Winter Wreck Fishing in BAD Weather 2021

Sea fishing in the UK in February is very weather dependant. You need to dodge the storms and take any weather window you can. Here I had a wonderful start to the day playing with a local family pod of dolphins and the some fantastic deep sea fishing on a local wreck. There are some monsters down there!!
I have included links to some of the tackle that I used in this video below. I hope it helps.

John - The dolphins love your boat's bow wave at 00:20, which to me is a good sign. I loved watching them when on a boat dive as when we slowed to approach a dive site, some would hang around to interact with us if we got in the water quickly enough. I always believed that with dolphins with us while diving that any aggressive sharks found other places to be. Stay safe and healthy.

The only problem with that saying is when your work is working on a charter fishing boat.LOL. Then a bad day of fishing for me means alot of moving around....and customers that sometimes are frustrated. But honestly...most customers are just happy to be on the water.

So, I'm a sailor in the USN, been in for about 15 years now. Short sea story involving dolphins: One deployment, about 11 years ago, the ship was transitioning from Hawaii to Guam; I was on the midwatch, so it was my teams job to reset the blackout blinders, turn lights on, etc... So dawn breaks, I head out to amidships to reset things, and apart from an absolutely stunning sunrise happening, I notice two things; 1) We were at almost perfect sea state 0, meaning the surface was almost like glass, and 2) the surface looked like it was BOILING. Turns out the ship was being followed by the largest pod of dolphins I've ever seen. Hundreds. Everywhere. Both sides of the ship. May have been thousands. I literally couldn't see where the pod ended, it was just a endless expanse of dolphins leaping around the ship and riding our wake in the red and orange brightening sky. I stood there gobsmacked for probably, I dunno, a solid 10 minutes just watching before I snapped out of it. I then realized that for all the shit, for all the frustration, for all the grief and blinding rage that the USN can cause in its idiocy, being able to stand there and see that sight, be a part of that moment, to see what so few would ever have a chance to, makes it all absolutely worth it.

In the winter consider wearing a dry suit, if you where caught of guard and went over the side you'd be in a bad way. And that's if you managed to get back onboard. In the water you wouldn't last long, a dry suit will by you valuable time if you did have to call a mayday. Great fishing, again.

In a past life i went to Bali - one of the trips was Dolphin watching - we went out in the sea for miles on a four engined rib with obligatory engineer - which is required by law - Spinner Dolphin's were the prize and they did not disappoint their party piece is jumping out of the water and spinning at the same time - beautiful and never forgotten - Stay safe

Another great video. Its always nice to hear I'm not the only one that has to re anchor!! Also jealous of the bait on offer still down there. This year was awful for mackies in Bournemoth and its rubbish heading out on the boat relying on them for bait. One trip we caught more porgies than mackies. Great to see the fish down your way are still plentiful. Keep the footage coming
