Winter Solitude | Cinematic Winter Forest Walk | Sony A7s3

One of my daily walks around our house in the hills in Western New York. Getting out into nature, even for a short bit, clears the mind and helps me just reset. For me, winter is a time for relaxing and reflecting on life. Basho is probably my favorite poet and he has a Haiku titled “Winter Solitude.”

Good video Josh. You must’ve captured that snow soon after it fell. I’m starting to mulch over last autumn’s leaves, and think about a potential early spring.

Thanks! This winter has just been me checking the weather app waiting for some snow or interesting weather to come our way. It's been pretty gray and brown...I think spring is right around the corner though.

Almost every morning I walked in a forest near by. It was cold today (around 10°F) but it was very calm. After looking at your video and reflecting on your comments and this great haiku, I said to myself...why not! So here's my first english haiku ever. East wind Light snowflakes My eyes delight Stream echoes Through lace of ice Life's sounds Light breeze Remaining leaves Shiver and sing (Sorry, sounds much better in french...🤔) My way to say thank you Josh for all the videos you have presented on your website. Many times, you have made my day! Thank you also for all the times you took to so graciously respond. It's greatly appreciated. Ps: Happy to see wild geese coming back north!🤗Salutation du Québec!

That is a wonderful haiku! I'm so happy that you got out and just wandered in the nearby forest and then were inspired to write your poem. You expressed a beautiful moment in any language! I enjoyed reading it, thank you.

Nicely done. I’ll have to write that one down. It’s very fitting for me in Hokkaido. Do you live in Japan?

We have a place in Fukui, the home that my wife grew up in. But right now we spend more time in Buffalo, NY where our restaurants are at. I'd love to visit you up in Hokkaido sometime.
