Tsuwano is a gem at the west end of main land Japan. Though it's not a major tourist destination, people often comes back again and again to this little town, drawn to its scenery, festivals, history and nature.
Tonomachi street is the historical samurai quarter in the town centre. Clear water runs on both side of the street, with hundreds of colourful koi carp swimming in it.
Taikodani Inari jinja Shrine sits on a hillside, making its vermillion halls great contrast against its greenery backdrops. The shrine approach has over 1000 Torii to go under, from the bottom of the hill to the main hall.
This town of 700 years of history has also many unique festivals; "Sagimai" Egret Dance, "Yabusame" mounted archery, and "Tsuwano Odori" ninja dance.

清流日本一の高津川が流れる人口一万人にも満たないちいさな町。
城下町である津和野町は、山陰の小京都と呼ばれています。
津和野は日本の本州の西端にある美しい町で主要な観光地ではありませんが、

殿町通りは町の中心部にある歴史的な武士街です。
通りの両側には澄んだ水が流れ、何百もの色とりどりの鯉が泳いでいます。
太皷谷稲荷神社は丘の中腹にあり、緑の背景に朱色の鳥居が対照的。
神社の参道には、丘のふもとから本堂まで1000羽以上の鳥居が並びます。
700年の歴史を持つこの町には、「鷺舞」の白鷺踊り、「流鏑馬」の弓騎兵、
「津和野おどり」の忍者踊りなど多くのユニークなお祭りもあります。
