Winter Pike Fishing On A Small River - Lure Fishing (Video 243)

Спорт

You join me as I head out to one of my small rivers for a short pike fishing trip on the lures and manage to find them in a feeding frame of mind. I really should do a bit more lure fishing and many thanks for watching guys!
My apologies for any wind noise, it is hard to avoid when the camera is mounted on your head.

    I think its worth changing lures when a fish spits out the bait like that last one... a different colour and swimming style... but in the end , you didn't need to... 🤗 That first fish had beautiful markings... 😍 Nice session there Mark, lure fishing is deffo productive !! 😎👍☘️🍺

I love the albino trout have in small and large size and also in the other pattern variations and have had success using them all but defo the albino pattern seems to work the better . Some great pike mate good to see you lure fishing you defo need to get some more lure sessions and video content done keep them coming mate 🤛🏻

    Where that pike grabs your lure when you dip it in the margin at ~4:42 is a great bit of footage. The muzzle report of a shotgun can be heard the exact moment the fish strikes too which adds some dramatic effect. It's amazing how quick they can be, it literally makes you jump sometimes.

    @@francolinobasco Cheers Mark, love your videos mate. I remember fishing a deep canal basin with a rubber shad, stood on a pontoon/kayak platform. Multiple casts had produced nothing and I really wasn't expecting anything by this point. My lure was almost at the surface under the rod tip, just about lift it out and quick as a flash a 9lb pike shot almost vertically upwards out of the murky depths and engulfed it right in front of me. Almost jumped out of my skin and may have uttered some expletives or used the lords name in vain at that moment

    Discovered your channel only a month or so ago after returning to course angling last year. I have to say its my go to channel now whenever i need info or inspiration. Im heavy into lures for all predators but mostly pike. Im struggling at the moment to find fish but one thing i have learned from this video is that maybe im casting to far. What i mean by that is they little blighters might just be right under my feet looking up at me. Interesting must give that a try before the season comes to a close. Great video as usual and keep up the good work as it keeps me going as well. Next season's aim for me is to find some specimen chub to do battle with. Cheers.

    Pike over there seem to have much more interesting markings across the back than they do (in my locale at least) in Michigan (I've noticed this in other UK fishing vids as well), they otherwise look the same, they also generally seem bigger over there, here many lakes they're a nuisance and skinny little things. They're also pretty small in the rivers but not necessarily a nuisance. Big ones do exist, just seems average size is somewhat bigger over there.

  • @markerd5378

    @markerd5378

    Жыл бұрын

    That is very interesting, I always thought that you had some big pike in America, but maybe I'm getting confused with muskie?

  • @Bazilli

    @Bazilli

    Жыл бұрын

    @Mark Erd It's just that the average size seems smaller, it could be some lakes are just so overrun with them they're stunted or there being more predator species in one body of water or something, I really don't know. Like I said, big ones do exist, but they're kinda rare. Musky however are normally pretty big, like 20 pounders aren't uncommon here (not uncommon for a musky I mean, you got to put in work to catch musky but if you fish for them, you will catch them, you could go a week without catching one, or you might catch five in an afternoon, it's fishing you know what that's like. I get the impression barbel fishing is sorta similar in that regard). If I ever get the chance, I'd like to catch a barbel, they look fun.

    @@markerd5378 No, you're right. They do get very big as do Muskies. But I have caught a lot of juvenile Northern and like the previous gentleman said, the little ones can be a nuisance.

    Nice video Mark, I do like seeing game fish like Pike, Walleye (I think that's something like a Zander by you) and Perch fishing and my, that first one was a dandy! What is the name of that lure you were using. In my area of the US I generally troll with a Dare Devil spoon attached to a steel leader for Pike and run about 10 lb. test line. I would be interested in trying what you're doing though.

    Cheers William and it's interesting to hear from other predator anglers from across the pond! Yes walleye are zander I don't have many local venues in my particular area for them, least not rivers. The lure name is, Savage gear 4D trout in albino. They cost between £9 and £11.

  • @1000000trs
    @1000000trs Жыл бұрын

    yep, roger that - makes sense especially thinking about the invisibility of the heavy trace. I've found that it needs a couple of preceeding days where the minimum air temperature does not go below about 6 or 7 degrees to wake the pike up (possibly becuase thats also what activates the bait fish maybe). I'm confused about the river speed though - whats your experience with rainfall and flow rate for pike?

  • @markerd5378
