No it's nothing like an AR15 unless you mean that they both fire a .22 caliber projectile. The AR15 fires a .223 Remington (5.56×45mm) round with a semi-automatic action, meaning the rifle will use expelled gases from each shot to load a new round into the action after each trigger pull. Where as the rifles used for biathlon are chambered in .22LR and use a straight pull bolt action, which require a manual action by the user to load a new round into the action after each trigger pull.

1:18 basically a curved straight pull bolt, Ferdinand Mannlicher would be proud. best of both worlds within bolt-action rifle design. again, we should probably have better fire arms education for athletes so they don't look stupid going into gun control endorsement. in fact most control enthusiasts never handled a rifle before let alone a pistol. IT'S LIKE asking a private (only in relativity to experience) to lead as a General especially in the particular choice of assaulting a position with only hunting rifles despite having better gear available and that can get the job done quicker with less risk to the soldier also many sports were alternate forms of training for war, almost all of ancient Greek's sports were combat sports, except for Rugby and Arguable discus (though i bet it would simulate throwing smaller shields, it's possible to use as a weapon, a Roman Emperor got assassinated by one in the Very Roman Colosseum)

The .22 ammunition comes in several sizes: .22 short, .22 long, then .22 long rifle and they are all a little different lengths. You can also get .22 bird-shot ( I always called it rat-shot)...like a tiny shotgun shell with 'shot' inside. At least this was the long time standard sizes for many years. The .22 short has the least amount of powder, then increasing with the 'long', then 'long rifle'. Today, you can get even more powerful .22 ammo in several different configurations. So the lowly .22 ammo has come a long way.

Hillary Clintub ( Uugghh...I had to wash my hands after typing that ...). I didn't include .22 magnum because it is a completely different cartridge than the typical .22 varieties. It has the same name of .22, but that is where the similarities end. A .22 magnum will not fit in a .22 rifle chamber, it's a larger diameter casing. Yes, at first glance, a .22 magnum looks just like a .22; just a little longer and a little fatter...but they are NOT the same. I have both types of rifle. And I do happen to have some .22 Long's, but I primarily just shoot the long rifle cartridge. Some .22 rifles can handle the shorts & longs and of course the long rifle, and other rifles can only shoot the long rifle cartridge. I really like plinking with my .22 magnum rifle...it really packs a punch..!!

The only unique thing to the biathlon rifle shown was the snow cover for the sights, everything else can be found in other shooting disciplines, with the aperture sights, 2 stage trigger and sling being found in pretty much every form of rifle shooting.

Those countries don't have biathlon teams. Look at the countries that have biathlon teams that do well: - Norway: allows guns, doesn't really like semi-autos. - Sweden: allows guns, doesn't really like semi-autos. - Russia: allows guns, doesn't really like semi-autos. - France: allows guns, doesn't really like semi-autos. - Germany: allows guns, doesn't really like semi-autos. - Austria: allows guns, doesn't really like semi-autos. And just to compare: - America: allows guns, doesn't really like skis. ;)

If I may, the problem there is your aperture is too small. You are probably using a .050 aperature (or thereabouts) when you'd be better suited with a .080 for low light. A proper aperture sight is better in every single way than typical irons. Check out Brownell's or Midway and get a larger rear aperture for your rifle.

This rifle has a pistol grip? So this guy has been training people for 20 years on how to use assault weapons. God, how can we be safe anymore. I mean, it even has a backpack sling. Next thing you know he'll be adding a bump stock so he can fire at full semi automatic rates of fire. And it's even got a strap at the front to stabilize the rifle. Ban this machine gun.
