Winter Magic ! LMS 44932 Pounds Over Blea Moor - The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Magical winter conditions were the backdrop for the opening mainline steam tour of 2023 featuring the recently returned Black Five 44932. The Black Five was hauling the Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express from Manchester to Carlisle via the S&C. 44932 is seen working off Ribblehead Viaduct as it forges its way to the Summit of the Long Drag in Blea Moor tunnel. Steam Scenes like this are pretty rare and it was well worth the 300 mile round trip for such a short video.
I hope you enjoy the video.

What an excellent video and layout., Gretting from France
Excellent video😉👍️✨Fantastic steam train and beautiful scenery😃⤴️⤴️Thank you for sharing :)
Love the sound too !! They really do chuff. 💨💨💨💙
Not sure why this came up in my KZread recommendations as I'm not a railway enthusiast, but I'm very glad it did. What a brilliant atmospheric video. Thanks for posting this.
Excellent. Atmospheric in the extreme. Well done for capturing so many viewpoints: great teamwork?
Fantastic video. Thank you
wow beautiful scenes! That 44932 really smokes it up!
Fabulous footage from you both as per usual what a performance up there we got today from 44932. Great to see you both back down at the cars and brief chat. All the best Simon
Yesterday was another enjoyable trip out, thank you very much for sharing
Is good seeing 44932 out again as it only worked one railtour in 2022 so im hoping that this year it get's much better use on railtours & preferably im hoping that on this ticket it sees more use up north as three of them see soul use in Scotland on Jacobite's & the 4th engine 45231's seen more use down south since Hosking aquired it off Bert Hitchen's family, so a black 5 in the north west is a rare sight. Only engine that were missing now is classmate 44767 as then 10A will have a working pair of black 5's.
She's getting a grand head of steam up there, excellent capture. Many thanks for sharing as its the only one day I don't watch the S&C line.
Super video footage with a change of loco nice to see a black 5 again on the main line. Thanks Brian
Very nice video :)
Liam & Phil, I'll bet it was a bit nippy up there this morning but well worth it. Great sights and sounds. Regards, John

Probably nothing compared to 2018 when the temperate on some days dropped below -20 celcius in the winter.
Perfect footage, beautiful sound! Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱.

Hearing it in person though is much much better, while I was unable to go out to see it today owing to timing issues as the routing had been reversed & the loco would now no longer appear in Preston tonight. I will be out to see 44932 next weekend as it's booked on the first WCME from Euston for 2023, routing wise it's northbound over Shap & southbound over the S&C.
Exceptional video capturing the real winter & the locomotive steam coming out from chimney in day time gives a feeling as if I am standing there, only thing is can't feel the winter hitting the skin. Superb.
Magical video Liam and Phil. Wonderful amount of exhaust. Really worth the journey. Kind regards C&A
Awesome video of the steam team
Looked and sounded like the diesel was pushing a little bit, too!

It did briefly coming off the viaduct then it eased back and then the steam took over.
44932 does look good in it's new livery, nice to see something other than the early or late crests.
Fantastic as always! Reagards, Liam
Superb start to the season Liam and Phil, great location, light, and exhaust, Steve Brass . 🎥

Prachtige opname !
Nice 2023 opener for 44932
Good ol' Bobby the Black 5. That's what I would name an unnamed Black 5, if I owned one.

@@neilhesketh1002 he would very likely not get a response from them as they would most likely be too busy laughing at his letter or email asking how many chocolate coins he would need to pay them to have 1 nameplate made. Or if he rang them they would most likely put the phone down as they wouldn't be able to communicate with him without bursting out laughing over his method of payment.

Very nice! I caught her at Carlisle today, it was a surprise to see her instead of the originally planned Scot’s guardsman

Failed its FTR, it should be out this Saturday.
But for the telltale exhaust of the ‘tail end charlie’, it could have been from the 1950’s

If it wasn't for the Brush at the rear, the modern center electric lamp aswell as Railway Touring Company headboard then it would be almost like a scene from the 50's. Would need to be in black and white though.

I thought the same. That sepia sunlight was wonderful. Very atmospheric. 👍

@@Pesmog infact adding to my earlier comment if it was a 1950's scene the engine would need to have had British Railways early crest on the tender which was the cycling lion. The engine in the video only has British Railways lettering on the tender which is from 1948 to 1949.

The initial shot, as the consist passes the Blea Moor signal box, is sucked dry of colour and left like an Ivo Peters shot - except for that wispy exhaust from the rear diesel unit. Evocative for those of us who can remember the age of steam, as it was.

@@Pjs75 they killed off steam traction far too soon.
Good work, always nice to see steam in winter....but what is it with LMS engines and sticking drain cocks?

There's not a lot you can do about it seems, mind you the Jubilees don't seem to suffer from this defect.
Fabulous stuff! What gear do you use to record this?

Many thanks We use Panasonic 4K cameras and Rode Video mics which are supplemented by Velbon & Manfrotto tripods.
Great video! I've always wondered, how much work does the diesel do on these runs? Does it always help to push the train along, or only on gradients?
@MarshSteamVideosTM

It would of helped out at certain points as the whole train load was far too much for a Black Five on that route. Many thanks.
Does the Loco have a leaking joint ?
Great shots....but diesel clearly working must worry fare paying passengers
pity about the diesel on the backend
Really nice that lads a great start to your filming season hope for more of the same. Richard
