For many people the concept of home is abstract. But for Hong Kong film director Jessey Tsang, it's very concrete: it means Ho Chung, the low-slung village in Sai Kung where the filmmaker grew up. Her new documentary Winter Chants is the third film she has made that reflects the life and times of this village. It documents the year leading up to the village's celebration of the Tai Ping Ching Chiu Festival, it's intimate and homespun - and this particular edition was confronted by the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. It's a moving story that dives deep into a very specific community in Hong Kong.
