I’m not traditionally a hammock camper, but I’ve definitely had my eye on this hammock for a while. I like the idea that it can be used as essentially a roomy bivy without trees. Pretty cool 👍. Enjoyed the video! ATB

I camped this last weekend with my Haven XL. I have the Insulated XL pad and ALSO bought the Haven Insulated pad cover. I also use the Zenbivy Light 25 degree sleep system. It got down to 27 degrees both nights. I found myself totally fine on top (love the Zenbivy!) for both nights but got a chill on my butt and spine in the middle of the night...not happy with the Haven as a 4-season system but love it as a 3-season

Thanks for sharing that! I believe Haven is working on a higher insulation pad right now. I believe I was on one of the early samples for testing. I didn’t keep the tent, so don’t know exactly which pad I was on.

As someone who prefers hammocks that looks really cool. Being from Maine, it would be really cool if he could design some sort of under-quilt for the hammock. It wouldn't be light... but the combination of an under-quilt with a pad may help take the system down to even lower temperatures. And I bet a lot of hunters or late season anglers would like that, as it's not uncommon for Western and Northern Maine to have windchills sub-zero in the fall and winter.

Son #2 loves his Haven. The adjustment pulls shown in your video are not on his model, seems like a good improvement. The Haven seems to be a good value. It is not light, but price includes pad (no underquilt needed), tarp, guy lines, straps, and carabiners The straps are way too short. You need skinny trees 9 feet apart. Plan to buy longer ones. As always, buy 4 MSR Groundhog stakes. My Dutchware Banyon set up is much lighter, but much more expensive. The Haven is for sleeping, it is not a lightweight backpacking shelter.

I’ve had this tent for 2 years now camping in Scotland. It’s without doubt the best nights sleep I’ve ever had outdoors, every time. It goes up in minutes and the same packing it away. If anyone is thinking of buying it you won’t be disappointed 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Nice. The Haven and Amok hammocks look comfortable, but they're pretty huge. I'd like to try a bridge hammock too but I sleep awesome in a gathered end hammock already. Better than I do in my bed at home. Looked like a chill trip. 👍

I enjoyed getting to try the Haven at HangCon in Florida last month. Devin my suggestion is that you need someone who knows what they are doing to get you set up in a gathered-end hammock that you’ll be able to enjoy. I had at least 3 negative experiences before I learned from a true hammock camper. And I am never going back to the ground.

I agree, but not sure it’s too high of a priority with how little I’d want to be in a hammock. I’ve Tried 3-4 different gathered end hammocks. But I guess I need to figure out the little hacks to make it better. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t enjoy fiddle factor. Ha ha

My first hammock was a Blackbird XLC. It has fiddle factor involved, and my first night was not comfortable at all. The second night was slightly better, but still had bad calf ridge. Took about another 3 to 4 hangs for me to get it sorted out. Bought a Wide Chameleon later, has no fiddling involved, no issues with calf ridge, and easier to get a flat lay. Bought a 12' Chameleon after that, and its luxurious❤️🥳

I've had my eye on one of these for a while, for car camping. My favorite hammock is my superior gear hammock, 10/10 my warmest sleep system. But one of these for summer and short hikes or car camping could be fun

Its a cool idea personally it would be to much for me to want to backpack with. One issue I run into with tents which has also made me prefer hammocks is this. How tall person friendly is the haven? It's always nice to see another tool out there that fills a gap for someone that might not normally go due to whatever issue they have with a standard tent or hammock. I will say with the proper hammock you can get a truly flat lay in both of mine I'm able to sleep on my stomach comfortably. But the proper size is super important for the individual.

I love Derek and his Haven series of tents. I backed the Safari kickstarter and he was quick to replace the leaky pad i had with mine. The weakest link in this system,IMHO and others, is the pad. It is difficult to fill it to the point where it is firm enough to prevent it from 'taco-ing' during the night. The last few times ive used it, its lost air in the night when temps dropped, and Ive ended up just going into the RV to sleep instead of trying to fill it up again. My only other option is to drop another $300 on a Therma-rest TopoLuxe XL which fits the Safari XL perfectly. Saddly, i have a trip coming up in a few weeks and wont be using my Haven for that reason. Ironically though, i will be using my Haven mattress on top of a cot inside my Tipi hot tent. I think if Haven, can improve their mattress from losing air and making it easier to firm up, they will have a Slam Dunk.

They are not ultralight for sure but when you look at the price consider what you are getting. A hammock, tarp, and pad. It's quite a good price, especially for a cottage vendor.
