    You guys are fantastic! I'm 25 years old and first learned to trap by my father 4 years ago. I put out my first trap line with several properties this year and have been doing all the fleshing and stretching (fist time) as well. There is no other craft like it!

    I'm 17 and I started trapping when I was 14. The creek that I trap in is very steep, both above and below the waterline. Any rain at all will cause it to flood up to 10 feet high. I live in Illinois and the winter months has become warmer over the years so there's a lot of rain. I have a very difficult time locating burrows and because of how deep it is, there are no runs I can set. I target beaver and muskrats but I don't have a boat. Any suggestions on what sets I can make?

    Adrian Simone I’m in the same boat check public land around you they usually have lots of beaver and if u fish or hunt make note when you see beaver activity, dens, cuttings. I’ve caught two otter my limit for the year in two days and a few beaver this year. Since the creek is flooding high the beavers will probably move somewhere nearby in the floodplain or a body of water because they can’t live underwater in a house that’s 5 feet underwater obviously. Just keep at it you’ll find em.

    I do not know the exact number but there is a colony of them in every lake or river around here. We can't trap them fast enough to keep the population down. They are extremely overpopulated and destructive

  • @330Maniac

    @330Maniac

    5 жыл бұрын

    So as a Biologist how would you remove beaver causing damage to property? When they flood farmland? In these areas the populations are too high and we remove the beavers and open the dams up allowing the water to recede. Do you just leave a note on their lodge asking them to leave? Or if I removed the beaver I have now reduced the population in the area to an acceptable level thus proving the fact a trapper was needed to reduce populations? I'll wait for your response because it should be a good one. And I'm expecting a better response than your half hearted comment up above that we just use it as an excuse. I commented with facts about beaver damage and I'll expect facts back.
