Wing Clouds - Amazing Wing Clouds effect

Highlighting the clouds which roll and play over and around the top of planes' wings.
These are a by-product of the lift forces which hold aircraft up in the sky. Lift comes about because the air pressure is low above the wing, and a drop in air pressure (and temperature) tends to cause invisible water vapor (gas) to condense into the visible water droplets (liquid) we see as clouds.
The misty show is most obvious during landing and takeoff as the plane is tilted upwards to increase lift at these times.

    This is because of Bernoulli's effect - The low pressure above the wings causes a drop in temperature (because the air molecules are farther apart), therefore causing moisture to condense out of the air forming a fog or mist above the wings (in other words, the temperature above the wings reaches the dew point).

    Mr Pantazis it is Brenolies law in visual form when ever air mass is accelerated the temperature of that mass drops in the case of a large heavy dirty slow airliner. the moisture in the atmosphere is unable because of its density to stay attached to the wing and is released on the form of visual moisture, that's the short sweet version. in truth it's enough force to KNOCK you to the Ground, amazimg,beautiful, outsandimg footage ,Gerat Job...

    MSullivanUK the airflow on the upper wing surface speeded up, the temperature dropped as Bernoulli principle, the water molecules in air condensed into liquid form and thus visible around the wing especially during low speed and high angles of attack

  • @Mark13091961

    @Mark13091961

    7 жыл бұрын

    MSullivanUK air depending on its temperature and pressure air can hold a certain amount of moisture in a gaseous form. The typical Birmingham weather here has the air close to saturation, i.e. It can hold almost no more water content without it showing visually as water vapour or cloud. The movement of the wing causes a pressure drop above the wing. This pressure drop instantly forces the air to beyond its saturation point and the water condenses into its solid form and shows as cloud. It's bernoullis principle in action; it's the drop in pressure not a drop in temperature that causes it. It happens on every plane wing in motion, the only difference is the natural air saturation is so close to 100% here that the passage of the wing trips it over and bingo - instant cloud. As the wing passes by the pressure returns to previous ( just below saturation) and the cloud disappears!

    Here's the amazing thing about airfoils and the wings they form: The vast majority of the energy utilized to maintain heavier than air flight comes from gravity, not from the engines. Airfoils are in a way mechanical gravitational energy harvesters. Unpowered glide-ratios of planes and helicopter auto-rotation are proof of this. The flight of autogyros the absolute proof.

  • @zhengliheng

    @zhengliheng

    Жыл бұрын

    Nonsense! In horizontal flight gravity does no work, and in ascending flight gravity does negative work, i.e., drains energy from the plane. How does a plane "harvest energy" in these cases? Even in descent, a plane frequently deploys spoilers to dissipate the additional speed it gains from gravitational energy, that means, it does not need that energy to maintain flight. A glider uses ascending airflow to keep aloft, which energy comes from the Sun.
