The MacBook Pro has Windows 10 on it.

Vista in reality was a great OS. The real problem was that OEMs weren't expecting Vista to launch at the time it did, so they took XP hardware, slapped Vista stickers on it, and shipped those as launch PCs. Vista was quite an upgrade from XP in terms of minimum requirements, so when people bought computers that were "Designed for Windows Vista" it ran like crap and they blamed it on the OS. So now there is this misconception that Vista was a buggy piece of crap. If you go into a virtual machine and install it there you can see that it was as stable as 7

Ikr. I had a Windows Vista RTM machine, and it never gave me a single blip. Everyone back then was saying "OH VISTA IS ALL SO TERRIBLE GET XP BRO" and all of that scramble, and when I jumped into the arguments, I was ridiculed and called stuff like retarded and loving vista because it was shiny and it looked good. I didn't like vista for that. I liked vista because it was stable for me, and I never had a single issue with it. Plus, the computer itself was also a pretty shitty brand, yet it still held up and it STILL WORKS today. I wanna go back to the people who called me retarded for liking vista, and tell them to think about the other possibilities on why vista never worked for them.

I still have my Vista machine the only problem I had was that the hard drive failed in 2015 but after that replacement she runs fine even today I'm still able to watch KZread and play a few games. I love that system.

I have never had a problem with Windows Vista.

Vista had the best aesthetics and wasn't so buggy once SP1 came out. I did upgrade to 7 in 2010, but I will always remember Vista for the vibrant colors and Media Center. So long ancient friend!

Windows XP, Vista and 7 will always be my childhood OS'es. Windows 7 however was the best. It was beautiful AND fast. Ahh...good times.

I honestly preferred the look of Vista over 7. But, what makes me like Vista more is it's development, especially Pre-Reset Longhorn. I used to love messing around with the betas.

In my eyes, Vista is aesthetically the best Windows.

Windows Vista is my favorite version of Windows. I still have the Ultimate edition installed on a separate partition and I use it almost daily.

@@riponrip4574 Whats hilarious is if you look at the windows development schedules for Windows 7 (and vista since vista is basic diet windows 7) a lot of the stuff that apple canned microsoft for, like gadgets and the search function even the transperant windows, they all predated apples, its just that 7 had such delays apple tossed them to the public first

Windows Vista, i used you for 5 years from 2007 to 2013. It was 5 years full off errors and bluescreens, but also love. The design of Vista i very nice in my opinion. I will never forget you for your errors and always love you for your design. Rest In Peace.

Windows Vista was a poor misunderstood. Microsoft fucked up the memory cache system, Vista cached everything and that caused it to eat tremendous ammounts of RAM, but for the rest was a very good OS, the beloved Windows 7 is just a Vista revision with the same kernel with a new cache system.

almost its backwards vista was 7... windows 7 was in development pretty much since XP was released, but due to delays and stuff it caused 7 to grind slowly, so longhorn(vista) was rushed along to satiate the public about it

I had a laptop with Vista on it for 4 years, I had no problems with it. I find it quite nostalgic.

The Windows 10 install screen is the same when you copy the setup files then you set it up with Cortana by your side.

omg I used to play Purble Place all day at the time ;) the nostalgia is real

definitely loved the appearance on this and all the customization! I did use the clock lol I messed around with the dvd maker a little . Loved the Start menu on this. I currently hate the menu on windows 10. Most of the time i did have the bubbles as my screen saver but i actually enjoyed typing my own saying into it and having it read on the screen. which was always fun . yeahhh, the memories!!

when i was 5 my parents have an acer with vista, a intel pentium dual core (i guess) 1.7ghz, 2 gb of ram and i loved it. i love it actually because for me it's a beautiful os.

As for why Windows offers so many options on its .iso is that the installer itself is generic and universal. The only reason why you want to hit another option is if you have a licence key. Its actually very handy so that you dont need a lot of disks to lug around.

Yeah the feature set of your windows is determined by your licence, but at the core there is no difference between windows home, pro and ultimate thus why they all use the same installer. Actually this is why I like windows 10, there are far less versions to keep track of as Microsoft had some crazy nonsense under the Ballmer era.

as for Vistas issues yes you were right on Vista being rushed. While the project had five years of development it actually had a break where Longhorn was stopped and all of its developments halted and then made anew taking a five year project and slitting it into one three year project and about one or two years for vista.

+MLGDogecraft2255 I use Windows 7 SP1 without any updates installed and no AV. I assume I could use Vista fine. As for drivers, I'm sure mine are compatible with Vista.

My dad kept me away from Vista when it came out. I've still never even tried it in a VM for fun.

You definitely should try it out, it's a good OS. I did 1 week Vista experiment myself. To me Vista was better than 7 or XP. 7 is like Vista lite. Aesthetically nothing from MS till this day can beat it. It's also very user friendly and easy to use OS. Just that software support for Vista is pretty much ended. Sad, because it was really great OS. Strangely booting times of Vista were actually faster than 7. After SP2 Vista perfectly good OS. Nowadays people just love to hate it for no reason.

Windows setup will choose the version of Windows to be installed based by the provided product key, but since you choosed not to provide any, that's why you were prompted to choose which one.

Why did you click on each of the language options when you really didn't need to click on any of them before clicking next?

Windows 10 may be faster, but Vista has vastly-superior UI. The only versions of Windows that 10 has a better UI than are Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1.

Vista was better than 7. The problem was that most people were too dumb to read the system requirements. They wanted to run it on 10 year old hardware (and back than, 10 years made MUCH more difference than now). Vista was a step forward. Unlike 7 and than 8 and than 10. All of which were backwards. But what can you expect from a MAC user...

Maximilien Noal I had both vista and 7, Running on a XP era pentium 4 ht 3ghz machine, and Both ran flawless at that time. I seen no difference between them performance wise, due to the fact the I had 4gbs of ram. I think the main issue with vista was lack of ram provided with the machine. If you ask which one I'd prefer, I'd say vista because it looks better and has a few features 7 don't have, however 7 has features that vista don't have either. If you can have the all the features of both OS but retain the look of vista. You'd have the perfect OS.

I still remember the first time I discovered and used Vista. I was insanely excited about it, always following its development until its release. I won't forget the experience when it first booted on my PC. The shiny new interface, those futuristic sounds, those new preinstalled games, Flip 3D, Media Center, etc. It was pure orgasm.

Why is the start menu so large?

For some reason, VirtualBox is horribly laggy on my laptop, but VMWare isn't.

fun fact, you can enable the startup sound in the sound settings and you can also install sound packs, i installed an xp pack

that widget thing on windows 7 I basically only used 3 mainly. The one that tracked resource usage (cpu and ram), the clock and a currency converter. basically used it to watch the value of the canadian dollar to the american dollar.

I used the gadgets A LOT on windows 7 and I still missed the gadget that turn your keyboard into a keyboard(piano).

Just saying, the file that identifies the version (only works on 7 and above, allows skipping the product key on Windows 8-8.1) is ei.cfg

User account control is also for admins to keep other users from tampering with settings, because if you get a user account control windows logged in as a non-admin account, it’s going to ask for an admin account password instead of yes or no, that’s why some system settings are locked by UAC

The story behind longhorn is quite interesting, it started in the year 2000 when Microsoft made a roadmap of their next three releases .Whistler, Longhorn, and Backcomb (named after two mountains and a bar between the mountains),Windows XP, Vista and 7 respectively but Longhorn was supposed to be a minor release and Backcomb was supposed to be a major release but all of a sudden the developers didn’t know what to classify as minor and then ended up scrapping Longhorn and made windows Vista

Yes the software didn't know what version as you did not tell it. Had you entered a product key it would have selected the version of Windows Vista which the product key was for. But you did not type one so it allows you to choose to install any version instead. This is a nice feature so you can install any version from one disc and not have to have one for very version

That not responding bug never fixed on windows 7. I experienced that problem.

I might have to try Jands Vista running in Windows Vista some day! BTW, Vista is a lighting console that theoretically will run in XP throughout Win8, so I’ll have to try some Vista-ception when I get a VM up and running :)

I remember Vista. I loved Purble Place. That game was so fun. Widgets? Didnt use, but I find them somewhat handy when I look back. Oh yeah, Windows Aero is beautiful. I dont miss how my old Vista laptop bluescreened if I tried to play a DVD though. That part, I do not miss.
