Wind Shift Strategy Tip #1: Should You Tack To Leeward Of Crossers?

Спорт

Welcome to my series on wind shift strategy tips! When sailing in a shifty wind the goal is to reach the next shift before other boats. That way when it shifts you will be further upwind than you otherwise wouldn't have been.
So, if you are behind and you see boats ahead of you are tacking on a shift that hasn't reached you yet it may make sense to tack before the shift hits you. But that's not always the case. In this video, we discuss when you should tack to leeward of crossers and when you should carry onto the shift before tacking.
This is the first in this series on sailing strategy tips so if you liked it make sure you don't miss future ones by subscribing and clicking the notification bell so you are first to see new videos.

Thanks man. This clarified a lot. Could you maybe do examples on Virtual Regatta for instance?
