You can tell by the lack of a slong swivel in the stock and no U.S. flaming bomb stamp. Also, you got lucky since the barrel was filled or milled out for the heat shelid to be installed. I personally restored and converted a old winchester 1897 to a trench since the barrel was cut down for the original length already. I recommend doing a couple of slow rust operations to get a stronger finish.

Don't put high-brass slugs in that shotgun anymore. Or high-brass buckshot either. That gun was designed and built during a time when the chamber pressure produced by ammunition was MUCH lower. Modern ammunition produces chamber pressures TOO HIGH for this old shotgun. Birdshot and low-brass buckshot should be alright, but high-brass slugs risk blowing that gun to smithereens.

Please don’t use high brass shells on these shotguns. They were made with black power shells in use. Smokeless powders does too much damage to the stock. And could potentially eject the bolt through your eye.
@Berniessen
10 ай бұрын
U have no idea how this gun works............ The bolt is locked by the carrier,and the recoil passes trough the bolt face and then trough the carrier (witch is a heavy almost solid piece of steel) to the receiver thats solid near the stock. Its impossible for a good locked up gun to shoot the bolt out of the receiver this only can happen wenn the round go,s off wenn the action isnt closed.

If this is true and I were you I would consider getting a factory letter for the 1893 of just post on gun values board and there is this Winchester nut who usually gives out the information for free. Serial number 11 is so close to 1 it may have had a special barrel length or stock or exc.... And a model 1893 that is not standard is stupid expensive. It might also be the oldest surviving copy $$$ and photos on a board for a professional would help keep history

This should be called Steel Wool Resto's xD
Please don’t use high brass shells on these shotguns. They were made with black power shells in use. Smokeless powders does too much damage to the stock. And could potentially eject the bolt through your eye.

You should have lined up those hackers instead of using non-screaming paper targets. 😉 ..and a great restoration you did on this fine weapon. 😁
I love old shotguns

I really wish one of the airsoft companies would remake this or bring it back to the market.
Jeez that old girl looks rough but she shoots straight

I got an 1893 with a s/n of 11 and an 1897. Tho the 93 is in many pieces as parts are impossible to find. I may do a 97 conversion.
