Lots of things can happen, perhaps the previous owner passed away and the gun was left in a less than excellent storage because nobody knew or cared to take care of it.

Awesome resto" ! The Franchi SPAS-12 is a combat shotgun manufactured by Italian firearms company Franchi from 1979 to 2000

These shotguns are cool as hell. It's a shame Franchi don't make them anymore, but they aren't exactly competitive I suppose. It'd be cool of they sold the guns and replacement parts on custom order, these things are movie and videogame history. Optionally if they sold off the tooling.

Designed for duty, but destined for fame. An imposing presence that has garnered great acclaim. Temperamental shotgun but a classic. That stock hook alone goes for $600 on the accessories market. Great job.

Gunsmithing and the ability to restore firearms is an art form.

Had that gun as a airsoft in my childhood, the SPAS-12 has a place in my heart.

What kind of sick individual would let a Franchi Spas 12 fall into such a sad state of disrepair? If it wasn't for this restoration, who knows how much further this poor 12GA would have deteriorated? Boy, oh boy...some people just don't deserve nice things.

Not saying this is the case but, just know that there has been a recent trend where people take perfectly fine items, then fake the restoration by accelerating the rust/wear process then pretend that it was "abandoned" and found in this state. I'm not saying this channel does it...just some food for thought.

Please be aware the flip safety lever has been known to fail. It will cause the weapon to discharge without even touching the trigger!! I suggest you upgrade it to push type safety. I have spoken.

A Franchi SPAS 12. It's BOTH a pump AND an auto shotty. Classic Italian shotgun.

You have alot of equipment

This really does look like the classic "fake rust something and restore it back" scam you see so many other restoration channels perform. You even point out the "fake" aluminum corrosion on the receiver. Oh well, it's still cool to see the disassembly.

yeah i felt that too, but there's also damage that cannot be easily reproduced and there's also very common damage from usage maybe he added some extra wear for dramatic effect, but still is a genuine restauration

It's a shame that the SPAS-12 didn't make it. If one used full power rounds to shoot it, it would have cycled properly. But the under powered bird shot loads caused the jamming. The worst thing about it was that safety when it was activated it caused it to misfire if there was a live shell in the chamber. The gun had a lot of potential, and since it's debut on terminator it seemed to have a secure future, but it was not meant to be.

Terrific job. I like your use of 3d printing and rubber molding. Bravo!

I don't even think they had this much care originally in manufacturing and assembling this gun. Great job!!

@@jasonjavelin Only around 30000 examples of the SPAS-12 were ever made, and not many examples these days still have the original flip-safety (Though for a good reason, there was a chance it could set off a shell in the chamber due to component wear). To do this to a firearm with so relative few examples in the entire world is demon's sin.

​@RestauraTo the rust isn't fake it's the way it's generated. You take perfectly good firearms and deliberately rust them. You don't rust them really bad so you can restore them to near perfect condition once again. Such fake 👎
