Winch assisted motorcycle loading, into a truck
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Demonstration of Truckboss motorbike loading system, into a truck box, with a custom telescoping ramp and winch attached to headache rack; 12 foot ramp creates safe ramp angle; installed by Marathon Manufacturing, Edmonton. Winch is controlled by red remote control in operator's left hand. The ramp telescopes and is stored in the truck bed with a fastener. Motorbike is not running, kept in neutral. Steadymate chock used to stabilize bike. Reverse the steps to remove the motorbike from the box. The ramp is stored beside the bike, with a fixture, allowing unloading anywhere the truck is. Note, it may be worthwhile having the key in the ignition during loading. Recently I had my remote control battery fail during loading.

You're lucky the front fender wasn't damaged.
I imagine you will be scratching the shit out of your front fender the way you have that hooked up
Great video. Was looking for ideas to load my electric trike which is quite heavy. Thanks
Great idea, I have a similar set-up. Please watch the strap hookup at the bike; your strap is, for a short time, pulling down on the front fender. No problem, just lengthen the straps; so as the cable pulls ahead without compressing down on the fender.
You are correct. Not necessary to have the motorbike running.
Just to be clear, the ignition was on but the bike was not running.
I'm halfway through the video, does he make it!? Edit: Yeah he does!
Bent the fuck outta that front fender huh?
What made the winch stop? Without help, I was thinking of using two 2"x10"x6' planks with poly strips on the planks to get a 450 pound V-Strom bike laying on heavy blankets on its side on a wooden skid into the bed of my 6' bed Chevy Silverado pickup. Those poly strips are the same material as snowmobile track runners. What do you think of this idea?

I have a wireless remote control in my left hand. It starts and stops the winch at any time. With respect to your next question, how will you pull the bike/wooden skid into your truck box? Also with a winch? If so, you probably just would strap the bike vertically into the wooden skid. And lastly, where would you store the 2x10 planks while travelling. They would be good to have with you while unloading again.
you really trust your tailgate

there is very little horizontal force against the tailgate. The heavier the bike, the greater the vertical downforce.
Helpful video, do you have a link for the ramp you are using? Thanks

Try attaching to your crash bars then your free to steer
I'm curious, what kind of bar mount is that? I'm looking into getting a winch system for my truck (97' Dodge Ram 1500, full sized) but can't find a bar that may fit it. Also, do you have any recommendation for a site?

Truck Boss ramp, 6 feet long, telescoping to 12 feet; 32 inches wide; 38 inches would be safer, though heavier. Upper end of ramp has two flat extensions that allow a bolt to drop into a hole drilled into the tail gate. Ramp is fastened at front of box with a custom fitting when travelling. go to www.truckbossramps.com; to find a dealer. Winch is a standard winch attached to a truckboss headache rack using a horizontal plate. Box cover or canopy no longer fits. Steadymate chock secures the motorbike.

Cameron Hird yes, the winch is remote controlled. in my left hand is a red, wireless remote control; for wind and unwind. it automatically turns off, when no option is actively selected.
