Wanted to shoot a big shout out to this video series. Hit my highest ever rating of 1528 today. I had hit a plateau of mid 1300-1400s and been stuck in this range for over 1000 games. Finally beating my peak rating I got during Covid lock down. Incredibly cathartic. Thanks so much Aman

It’s because of this series that I play the French. I tried playing stonewall as black then studied my games and the engine basically said “don’t play this, just play the French as black”

i think this opening as black is not about best moves, but about throwing your opponent off. would work on me 🤷

He does that every single time as black against e4, and sees if they let him transpose to the stonewall or not.

We have arrived at my level but still I haven’t seen the stonewall with black. 1e4e6 2 d4d5 3e5… and now. I really hope you will show what to do against this line.

In the full vods aman plays f5 anyways and hopes they take en passant to try to transpose into something similar, however most games don't end up following the themes of the stonewall so I guess they've excluded it.

what do i do when i have the black pieces and they start with pawn E4? They always push that pawn and i can't develop my knight. Anyone knows how i can prevent this?

You cant stop it, but instead of playing for knight e5, you are now doing the same setup as if you were trying to get a knight to e5 and playing for pawn to e4 opening up the center.

I play Stonewall with White and Caro-Kann with Black if I see E4.

@@KrisRoxas Adv. French = White has the annoying E5 Pawn. Black answers with C5 and both Bishops are blocked. Not what I´d like to play normaly.
