Seems like it offered it's way all the way to gm.

The best thing about the unorthodox opening speedruns is watching Eric confused staring at the worst position he's ever been in, then 40 seconds later pulling some grandmaster shit to turn the game around

Thanks for your vids, guys. Sorry to see this and the English one end the same week. We've had some white focused speedruns (e.g. london, english) but I would like to see some black focused ones like a caro-kann and semi-slav or anything really. Would also be nice to see a gambits speedrun (e.g. danish vs e5, morra vs c5 etc). Hope to see more of these soon and thanks for sharing these with us.

​@@Noah55555 Because 800 elo games feel terrible to watch. I certainly enjoyed 1800+ games and the past couple of videos was amazing seeing eric build beautiful mating nets and attacks.

@@josephsalmonte4995 Not at all, there is nothing to gain as a viewer when his opponents blunder in 5 moves and he is just steamrolling them. More enjoyable to watch him playing more competitive games where he has to play at least a bit precise and gets punished for not paying attention.

@0:47 12...Ngf6 compromises the whole Hippo setup. In this game it allows White to penetrate Black's formation immediately. When playing the Hippo you should stick to the Hippo.

Eric was playing very well in this game until 1:25:52 he played Ned3 and allowd the pawn on d3 to fall. After that Kf8 was only cleanly winning move and white has lots of tricks.

If you haven't seen it, Hikaru did a botez gambit speed run where he almost exclusively used the Hippo at higher ranks. He was beating 2500s with it, and that was with sacrificing his queen.

Because after d2 white has g7 which attacks his queen and threatens checkmate after bishop takes on h8

Because Eric makes a lot better moves than you on average, so his opponents makes mistakes more easily than when playing against you. This should have been obvious to you without explaining.

This part of the speedrun is not at all instructive. Just Eric getting into losing positions and Houdini-ing himself out of it by being a GM 😂 What is the takeaway for us? Just vibes lol

firstly Eric thank you for the amazing hippo runs...i been using it and 8/10 are the win rates in white n blacvk. They do clamp down early so have to extend the rook pawns mostly. Just wanna say,get the jokers out of the frame...takes away the seriousness of these games .....doesnt make for pleasant viewing...too much talk in the background. Just saying.
