Doing this without armor is really luck dependent but I'm happy to verify that this is indeed possible. I've been wanting to upload this fight ever since I figured out that 1.0 damage characters could one-cycle lavae with just a ham bat if you anim cancelled correctly, and I wanted to get better at single-item anim cancels while I was at it. This fight was messy but I can't exactly ask myself to do better than this with this many timings

The scary thing is that he probably doenst even need a hambat technically as long as it doesnt get dark out. He could probably pull it off with a bunch of spears or axes, it would just take forever.

I don't think so actually. you can't really kill the lavae with spears as effectively so they'll pile up pretty much every time she starts summoning. theoretically you could but it'd be way more difficult/not even really possible
How DST developer expected you to kill Dragonfly (except animation cancelling):
