So do I. But I have to say, there are really cool modern finishes too. One favourite of mine, in a so to speak traditional blued finish, is Korth PRS .45 ACP. In particular the short 4" barrel is exquisite. A 'drop dead' gun.

Best thing I ever did for my Kimber Pro-Carry was to buy a Wilson Combat "Flat Wire Spring" Guide Rod Set. I also added a Wilson Combat Firing Pin. The gun always shot well , right out of the box. After adding the Wilson Combat parts, the gun shot even better! The Guide Rod Set also got rid of the need for a "paperclip" to take down the gun.

@@K-bob_45 the extractor steel is better than most, I'll give you that. But the fitment is terrible. Worse than any decent hobbyist 1911 owner could manage. I'll admit it is common among other brands in their price-range as well, but Colt's extractors are always too long. WAY too long. Not helped at all by their firing pin stops that flop back and forth like a screen door, before they crack because they only use MIM 9mm firing pin stops on all models. Colt is just an animated corpse at this point.

So I watched both parts. Much to like. Really needs to be two different videos because one looks at modifications to a new pistol and then there was talk of cmp pistols. I have been working on a couple of my own 1911 pistols with different paths. A new high quality brand name target pistol that I changed grips and that was it. The other has been a project... older 70's Government Model Colt. There is a totally different beast! Does the gun function perfectly. There you find directions on what to improve. Probably a recoil spring at the least. Deburr has a nice ring to it. Sold on WC parts and because they are quality I have been peeking at their new guns. Nice photography! It would be nice if a basic refurbish package were available... disassembly, solvent bath, magnaflux, wear inspection, replacement of springs, chamber/barrel polish, lubrication, and function check. Probably a good time to sell replacement parts and trigger jobs... maybe packages like trigger job, slide release, link pin, #47 magazine. Just knocking the burrs out when fitting the link pin will probably make the customer think you are wizards.

Larry, you mentioned in the video that if you were to have the front strap checkered then there would be a need to have to frame refinished (re-blued or some other type of finish).. My question is, with having the gun dehorned, having the magazine well flared, etc the way you did, didn't you need to have that gun re-blued anyway or no? I'm talking specifically about the "Plan A" gun. The reason I ask is because I really like how those guns turned out and I want to do basically the same thing. I want to buy the same colt you did and send it to Wilson Combat to have work done (Basically, like a combination of the things you did on "Plan A" and "Plan B", but on the same gun). I want to know if the gun i'm looking at in the video has been re-blued by Wilson or not. If not, how were you able to NOT have it re-blued after having those things done? If you have time, I would love to know if that "Plan A" gun has been re-blued or not. And if not, how so after having that work done? Didn't you need to have it re-blued after that type of slide/frame work? P.S. I would love it if you posted the Wilson custom shop work sheets you filled out for those guns to social media. That way I could see what options you selected on the forms and use it as kind of like a template when I complete my order form.

LAV is your Rear Sight inspired by the Old Millett Mk2 Rear Sight? The reason I ask is that I build up a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 45acp and I wanted to build it little the Old USMC MEU pistol that had the Mk1 millett rear sight but I prefered the sight picture of the the Mark 2 so that is the I choose along with the .200 inch Orange front sight which in the Fall of 2009 after 2 months of being on back ordered by Brownells I was able to get the last set of sights. I pickup the pistol on Sept 11, 2009 and worked on it till Sept 11, 2010 when I finished the work as par of my rehab from a service connect injury.
