Talked my father in law into sending his dad's Colt Commander in last year to you guys, looks really similar to what they have at 4:52. Replaced a bunch of internal parts, trigger job, new sights and re-blued. Beautiful gun and you guys did a fantastic job!

Kevin is a heck of a nice guy and does great work. Owning a full Custom from John Harrison and knowing what the best is, I have been very impressed with what Wilson does for the money. They do great work and I trust their guns. Own two and plan on buying more in the future. Thanks Kevin and Ken!!!!!!

Wilson seem to employ not only the best gunsmiths but really nice people, just like the owner himself. Says a lot about the company. I can think of other competitors where that is not the case. I think you probably know the ones I am talking about.

I’m really glad you guys are doing blueing now. The only thing that’s stopped me from sending a sweet old 70’s series Colt in is I would lose that sweet polished finish. Armor Tuff finish looks great but it just can’t match a polished blued gun.

Thanks for this video. I have wanted a Wilson 1911 for many years but wanted to do it like it used to be done when I first started out decades ago. But I did not know that Wilson still did work on customer-supplied guns. I have a recent vintage (2018) Colt that I would like to make into a nice "barbecue" gun and I think it would just be more special to have work done on one of my 1911's than to buy one "off the rack". This sounds like a good option. Now to just decide what I want done. Decisions, decisions.

I bought a Series 70 Colt and at first was a bit horrified. Jammed every couple shots and couldn't hit the side of a barn from inside the barn. Put under $150 worth of Wilson Combat parts into it and now it is a fine shooting firearm. Probably not competition grade but I can hit tin cans at 50ft. Function is as reliable as a new gun. Single best item I put in it was a $5 barrel link. Took me under 2 minutes with an iron nail for a punch and screwdriver handle for a "hammer". Old link had holes out of round by half a thou each and the sides clearly had burrs that had been rubbing. Also replaced the slide release so that whole system tightened up and very suddenly the pistol started making groups on the paper. Not certain what the link holes were ctr to ctr. When I get some slack time at work I'll check it out further.... so far just a quick caliper check for roundness. Whole list of parts was the extractor, flat spring with full length guide, magazine, slide release, #3 barrel link, and grips mostly so I don't ding the original which are mint condition. People that don't have $3000 bucks to drop should look at some of the basic do it yourself items. Wish Wilson Combat had Series 70 barrel collets.

Love my CQB with upgrades. Best 1911 I have. And, I have a few: Kimber, Springfield, Magnum Research, and others. Smooth, most accurate, can hit a 12” steel target 5 out of 7 rounds at 80 yards consistently. Could not do, nor my son, do with the other 1911’s. Not at that yardage.

I own a Wilson CQB for a long time. It is rifle-like accurate and reliable to a fault. Cheap? No, there is nothing about it that is cheap. It just reeks of quality and in my opinion, is worth every penny that you pay for it. One cannot buy a Chevy or Ford and think that it'll drive like a Ferrari.

In His Service 250978 bulletproof parts are what Wilson combat calls the parts they have cnc machined from bar stock. I believe. I would google it to make sure if I were you because I forget the actual specifics of the steel they use. The short of it is they make the best quality 1911 parts you can buy. Although it’s definitely a close one between them and Cabot arms, but I don’t own any Cabots so idk.

I’m sorry but the average consumer can’t afford the ridiculous prices your asking for what really don’t need to be done to a pistol. People need to learn to shoot what they have. Keep it stock. Just because you had all that work done, does not mean you will shoot better. Training and ammo is where you should spend your money. Sorry Wilson.

Their prices are not "ridiculous". We have all gotten used to cheap industrial products at extremely low prices, starting from Ikea furniture to cheap Chinese electronics. All of these products work okay for a while, but none of them will last very long, they are throw-away consumer spoils for a throw-away society. The prices charged by a custom gun smith like Wilson are what products used to cost in the old days. Real products that last forever and that are built to last forever by the hands of real craftsmen. Now if you can't afford one of these products, you don't have to buy them. But I often hear people say "I can't afford that" and then I see them buy a ton of new, cheap crap every few weeks. If they just changed their mindset and saved up for one really good product, they could easily afford it!

Sometimes we want to have our guns be to our standard my TLE wasn’t to my standard but it was close as I could get with what I could afford but over time I’ve switched the sights, grips, recoil spring and guide rod, and trigger to fit my personal needs and wants I agree that spending money on ammo and training but what works for me may not work for you manufacturers try to make an all around gun that anyone could learn but as you learn what you like and don’t like I like to change them to enhance my platform it’s a tool and is only as good as I make it but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t improve the interface between me and something I’m trusting my life too and now I love my TLE (I always did but now it’s exactly the way I want it) there’s nothing wrong with looking to improve things that’s how this industry improves as a whole it’s changed a lot even in the past 5-10 years but the industry as a whole has improved guys like these help it by putting quality parts out there that are affordable that do make a difference

That's why people build shitboxes. Nothing like walking a Ferrari with grandma's old Ford Fairmont with a 180k mile junkyard engine and a cheap turbo. Get the most out of the gun you have, hone your skills and then move on. It's like the skinny guy who gets on steroids and then gets into pumping iron, vs the natural man who puts in the work and fully realizes his true genetic potential.
