I feel like there should be classes on modern internet culture offered to older generations nowadays (Gen X, Baby Boomers, and a few older Millenials) that teaches them how to better distinguish and detect online scams like this. I may be showing my age but back in my time as a young Millenial the crazy online scam at the time were the chain phishing emails asking for your banking info (i.e. the "Nigerian Prince" emails, etc.) Technology has advanced very rapidly since then, we might even be on the doorstep of a fully digital reality like the Matrix soon.

Yeah, I think there's a chance that this was a scam.. but a scam that was too successful. They might have been counting on maybe a third of the number of attendees so that the disappointment would have been less organized and no refunds publically demanded. Instead a ton of people showed up and the police were called and it leaked into media reports.

When I was in high school we had one homecoming week where the seniors designed these mini fun houses and one of them was Willy Wonka themed. Those little boxes constructed of cardboard and butcher paper were leagues better than this.

This is hilarious I just love stories of events like these being scams. It’s also not the first time something notable like this has happened such as with the whole Lapand New Forest incident.

I saw another story about this on the news and for some reason thought this happened in Chicago. It wouldn’t be the first time Willy Wonka tricked children though. Only Charley was pure at heart enough to escape unscathed.

If you expect what you see in the movies, you'd probably have to go to Six Flags, Universal Studio, or Disneyland for it to be that elaborate and professional looking.

“Imagnation” “encherining” That should have been a red flag.

The actors got scamed in this too and no pay.

Someone I know pointed this out a day or so ago... Big bridge between fantasy and reality... When I saw the AI-Generated ads before those of the actual real venue, I knew then things weren't going to be right! There's nothing wrong with AI Fantasy Art - Just so long as you let people know beforehand that what they see _IS_ a fantasy!

Should have been a clue when Imagination was spelled wrong in the “ Imagnation Lab”.
