Great fix! I used to love working on generators. I still have a bunch of leftover units I need to do something with. You've inspired me again!

The repair was more than I expected. But it was fun to figure out all the problems.

Seems like generators and pressure washers are often neglected. People don’t maintain them and let them sit for months then expect them to just work perfectly. I’ve seen so many with gummed up carbs, stuck valves, and gelatinous oil. Good catch on noticing the mark on the piston and replacing the valves as a precaution.

Hello Chuck, This generator was definitely neglected. I hope that the owner follows my maintenance recommendations.

My wife thinks I crazy for saving all these parts. I tried to find replacement parts online but they’re out of stock . The only thing I could find was a complete head. So yes likely I had a supply of just the right parts needed to save the generator.

Years ago when I was looking for an inexpensive 3K watt generator the Predator wasn't even an option. They tripped the 15 amp breaker with a circular saw. I ended up getting a Black Max from Sams club for $199. It's 120v only and has 20 amp breakers. 208 Ducar. Bought a tri fuel carb for it and it hasn't seen gasoline since. The inverter gens are nice and are way quieter than the open frame generators. It's too bad that guys don't change their oil like they should. This past year I opened up two of my 196's and was amazed at how clean they were. It was a combination of fairly low hour run time and short oil change intervals. The Hisun 196 was nearly seven years old and looked very good inside. The 196 Greyhound was built more than three years ago and there was nothing to wipe out inside, just clean oil.

Definitely man regular maintenance can go a long way with these small engine powered machines. Hopefully the owner of this generator follows my recommendations for maintenance.

Super build. Did you happen to see total hours run? I've got one and wonder what's down the road.

Hello, No I didn’t see the hrs run on it. All I can say is keep it serviced and should run for a very long time. It’s basically a Predator 212 inside and easy to work on. Thanks for watching!!

Hello Joey, No this thing was not starting. Yes it had spark but had mechanical damage in the head on the exhaust side that cause no compression. Once repaired ran beautifully. Thanks for watching!!
