William Shatner on His Favorite Memories From Star Trek | TV Greats

William Shatner is one of ET’s ‘TV grEaTs!’ The actor, whose career spans over seven decades, reflects on some of the highs and lows of his journey within the industry. Shatner gets candid about being broke after ‘Star Trek’s first three-year run, his relationship with his late co-star, Leonard Nimoy, what it was like to be the oldest person to travel to space in 2021 and much more. Shatner shares how his experiences have also inspired his newest projects, including his album, ‘So Fragile, So Blue’ and his documentary, ‘ You Can Call Me Bill,’ which are both out now.

Oh YES, I really think the world NEEDS this! For so many reasons: 1. Star Trek is so iconic, it would be historically tragic not to have even one episode with commentary by Bill himself. 2. Watching it would probably jog his memory of things he'd forgotten and give us all some fresh stories/anecdotes 3. The trivia this man could share about that show would be unmatched to any other kind of commentary 4. It would be amazing to actually see Shatner really watch an episode for the first time in his life. 5. It would be so wonderful to know there are Trek episodes you can sit down and "watch with Shatner". 6. These recordings WOULD be a huge hit, surely financially profitable to anyone who organized it. (Personally I'd much rather have this than see Bill revise his character in a modern show.) 7. It would be the original series' ONLY commentary recorded by a member of the cast. Shatner and Nimoy did commentaries for some of the movies, but the only TOS commentaries we have are from a handful of writers. 8. I think it would give a sense of "full circle" for Bill to go back, near the end of his life, and revisit the beginning of his journey to superstardom

Good list, Scripture-Man. It’s not talked about enough, but I think that many episodes had many outstanding acting performances. I am also a big fan of the cinematography and lighting of Jerry Finnerman who played a key part in creating the classic look. In fact, given the very low budget, what they pulled off with writing, sets, wardrobe, lack of fx, etc. was amazing.

@@crystalheart9 Yes he used to say “beam me Scotty” in almost every episode. Do you remember Walt Disney cartoon “Snow White”, where the witch says “Mirror mirror on the wall”...? Well, check the cartoon now, the witch says: “MAGIC MIRROR on the wall....”. Have you read the novel “Portrait of Dorian Gray”? Now the book morphed to “Picture of Dorian Gray”. Or the Lucy show, her husband used to say all the time: “Lucy you have some splainin to do”. Those words vanished from all tapes, new or old. If you are a fan of James Bond movies and you saw MOONRAKER then you probably remember Dolly and her braces... Well, check the scene now (where she and Jaws just meet), the braces are gone. Have you seen Disneys Cartoon “The Jungle Book”, there is a scene where the bear dances wearing a coconut bra. The scene is still there but the coconut bra is gone! The series “Star Trek” started with the intro: “Space THE final frontier”, now it is “Space, A final frontier”. And tons of other changes. Many people say that CERN is behind those changes. It’s partially true. It’s all about spiritual warfare, ex: Ephesians 6:12: - “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”. To understand what exactly is this new “phenomenon” one has to read King James Bible, everything is explained there very well. It’s spiritual warfare, no more no less. Tons of people out there say there is no such thing as Mandela Effect, you just have bad memory. Never listen to what they say, they just want to block the truth. There are also sites on Google that say that lately people began to misremembering things. “Bridge OVER the River Kwai” is now “Bridge ON the River Kwai”.

You've got to hand it to Shatner: he's got the most incredible "can do" attitude. I really hope he is tempted back into playing Kirk for one last hurrah!

His words: “beam me up Scotty” vanished from all tapes, new or old, William says he NEVER said it. It’s called the “Mandela Effect”, our reality changes.

He is so personable. I am going to check out his album Where Will the Animals Sleep. He has so many sides to him. He can laugh at himself. Third Rock from the Sun. The Big Bang Theory.
