A serious politician. Intelligent, logical, and not afraid to discuss the sensitive, but important issues.
If the SDP were standing in my area I would vote for them.

William Clouston is pretty much the only politician I’ve heard talking (and I’ve heard a few…) that gives the impression that he has some insight into the problems afflicting the nation and who also articulates a moderately compelling vision for the future. Admittedly, the competition is not stiff - but he really is the only current party leader that I can say anything positive about.
What a breath of fresh air. A politician grounded in reality with sensible policies. I loved that slogan - Britain is a home, not a shop or a charity.
Wr desperately need SDP standing everywhere
Excellent interview, thank you Brendan, and thank you William. I look forward to the SDP making life uncomfortable for Starmer and Rayner. William Clouston hits the nail on the head when he describes our predicament of a ruling elite that doesn't want to govern, they have grown so lazy and corrupt that the very effort of holding or exercizing power is beyond them.
Wish SDP was standing in my constituency as their policies are most aligned with my political views. Unfortunately not but Reform has a candidate so will vote for them but no chance of winning in my constituency.

Think I've found my political home in the SDP. Though I chime with Reform's message on migration and restoring British identity, the neoliberal tendencies are a worry for me. The British working classes have been through enough. But, for the SDP, the mixture of personal success and societal well-being is baked into their politics, and I can tell they mean what they say. And to those who think reindustrialisation is a 1970's pipe dream: this doesn't mean sooty-faced men in overalls. Reindustrialisation can mean technology and innovation, that will make us less reliant on the whims of volatile nations and global politics. We can become a lot more self-sufficient.
Great interview. I had no idea what the SDP stood for. Most enlightening. Clouston spoke a lot of common sense. Wouldn't it be good if we could have the SDP and Reform as the major parties in Parliament?

Spiked always has some quality guests on. Great to hear the SDP's vision from William Clouston. Thank you Brendan and team.
Ok, I'm sold. Only ever voted Labour before, but this seems up my street.
Unfortunately we don’t have a candidate in our constituency
Listening to that interview and the realisation that my entire belief system has been pretty much reflected in that discussion. With the current stagnation in politics the need for electoral reform and the inclusion of parties like the SDP is essential to our democracy

Its incredibly stupid, on every level, to loose our steelmaking industry and independence for producing steel instead of importing. Steel is absolutely critical for our infrastructure and transport and to loose the skills and facilities is insane and once gone almost impossible to replace in future. Our domestic need for steel is inceeasing every year as our population increases and we need housing, infrastructure like motorways, rail, trains, bridges, vehicles to transport and distribute products, power stations, ships, containers, and defence items. I look at the state aid for manufactturing in Germany compared to the UK and weep. Successive UK governments have stripped us of our independence in terms of industry, skills and products and it needs to be reversed. I would rather create state aid for critical industries here than be reliant on purchasing and shipping product from around the world made elsewhere and from places that either may not always be our friends, or where that supply is vulnerable if there is war or other civil problems or natural disasters that interrupt or even long term destroy the viability of that supply.
William is fantastic in conversation, but he can't make a speech like Nigel and I think he knows it. SDP have so much right, I like many of their policies, but there is no candidate in my area so Vote ReformUK and save our civilization ❤ MEGA
I’ve voted Reform but I would’ve MUCH rather voted for SDP but Reform was MUCH better than the UniParty
I like William and I have lots of time for the SDP. The number of people that want a smaller state being 10% is largely because not one of the political parties has been making the case for it. Labour, Conservative, LibDem, SNP and Green are all making the case for higher tax, higher spend, big Public Sector. If people really understood how much we are taxed and how little we get for it, I think more would be asking for a reduction in the overall tax take.
Brendan is a wonderful journalist. Always conducting himself well and seem to be really interested in an informing conversation.
Vote Reform! ❤

Reform UK and SDP each have policies I like-with the latter more so. We need to buy British & rebuild our industries. Although Reform policy is just legal & illegal migration I would vote them as they stand a better chance

I will. But only because an SDP candidate is not standing locally. I like Reform's migration/culture message, but don't like their economics.
Can we get this party in Australia please 🙏
Living in the UK feels like being on the Titanic, we know is sinking but continue to play some music -
Lucky enough to have them as an option this time round. I think they’re probably the way to go
I like this party very much, particularly on economic issues, and i actually voted for their candidate here in London during the Mayoral elections. However, Reform have more chance of making some inroads into the current two party, status quo situation, which is British politics for now. Oh, and I am a fan of Farage, particularly his ability to enrage the lefty Liberals who dominate our institutions, and of course, he does have the ability to speak the language of us 'common' plebs. So I will be voting reform.
I really liked what he had to say! Maybe I will vote SDP......oh wait....I live in Clacton
We need Proportional Representation!!
On wages, he is right - but be prepared for inflation a la Canada. I used to live there are prices were stratospheric!
bro said the tories were cooked 💀
I am a current member of SDP and I sympathise with their aims, though in the recent local elections they did so poorly that I'll be voting Reform in the general election.

It's early days, and I'm prepared for the long-haul when it comes to growing the SDP. I've opted to vote with my conscience from now on, as tactical voting and "electibility" nonsense is largely the reason we have such poor politicians. Voting on principle is the only way principled politics can grow.
Pointless, vote reform.
