She’ll give the Tories one last chance to save themselves in the leadership contest then, assured she tried and having exposed their irreparable decrepitude in the process , she’ll jump ship with a clear conscious. She’s becoming quite a force and she’ll be a great asset to us.

The ensuing EGO WAR of Cruella, Farage and Anderson all vying for attention and relevance would be a car crash, the likes of which we've never seen. Two narcissists and a clown. She' s on here, decrying "liberals" - I’ve always found this really odd, The opposite of “LIBERAL” is “ILLIBERAL” - The definition of illiberal is NARROWMINDED / BIGOTED. Be careful what you wish for as numbers of the illiberal are growing rapidly.

In the 1920s, Britain had civil disobedience for women to be treated like a full person and vote Yet now, in Britain, one religion specifically advocates and insists on treating women like half-a-person. This is wrong and a pox on that religion.

As a former Conservative voter, I moved to Reform as I see the party, not as hard right as the left wing press would like people to think, but as centre right, the space the Conservatives used to occupy. Yep. There's no tangible, meaningful difference between Conservatives and Labour. This is what Peter Hitchens failed to understand. It's worth letting Labour get the win because we're just going to get more of the same anyway with either party. Better to support Reform and send a strong message to the Tories that they're in the wrong lane and hopefully get some of the better Conservatives like Suella and Kemi to hopefully defect.

An excellent speech. I hope to see Suella as our PM one day. However, I think her idea of defeating Reform by making the Tory party genuinely conservative is unrealistic. Most of her colleagues are hopelessly mired in liberalism, and will not join her. The solution must surely be an alliance with Reform: either the true conservatives like Suella and Kemi defect to Reform, or they persuade Farage and his mates to join the Tories. Labour will be a disaster and support for Reform will grow. They have to be welcomed, not shamed.

I'd maybe qualify that with "the previous incumbents in Westminster were too split". There's been a loss of two thirds of the MPs; an opportunity to rebuild almost from scratch in 2029, given the right leadership. I may be wrong, but I don't think the grass roots of the party in the local Associations has changed that much. Small "c" conservative voters clearly now have a choice between the Conservatives and Reform, as the comments here suggest. Nigel Farage, with his vote share, has done a great job in sending a clear message to the Conservatives about which way potential conservative voters lean. If the party listens and elects a Braverman-type leader, maybe the time is right to find some way of working together? The question that has to be asked is; have we witnessed a sea-change in politics with the rise of reform or was this a cry for help from conservative voters whose natural instincts were, and still are, to vote Tory? If the latter, then maintaining a situation where they are forced to choose between two parties is counter productive to the conservative cause.

Suella Braverman is leading the restoration of a strand of conservative thinking here that has not been at the forefront of British conservatism for decades. There was an articulation here of the deepest purpose of the conservative disposition, to preserve and cherish a place in which we may feel at home, be at ease, know ourselves to be secure, and so to raise a family. Conservatism is not now, and never was, about money. This is a vision that could inspire a generation, from a politician whose voice is heard around the world. That matters.
