I think a smart agent tells his/her talent to not come out YET, because it can be a card they can use later - which means that we've progressed enough that in certain situations, being part of the LGBTQI community can be beneficial. The goal of course is to reach a point when it truly doesn't matter anymore

Well done Will- I think you articulate what many gay people experience so well. Unfortunately, homophobia and gay shame are very real. Both come from a wider misogynistic patriarchy that harms not only women but straight men too. I hope the people making negative comments can soften their cold hearts a little and let in some compassion for themselves- we will all be better off for it. I'm grateful that Will has chosen to use his fame to speak honestly, in the full knowledge that he will be attacked for it- a very courageous and generous act indeed.

Mr Young is such a nice person, always has been... I'm sad to hear that he felt this way, but not surprised. I hope he continues to learn and to educate others. I shall buy the book. Thank you for this interview.

There are some gay men, not all, but some who I believe reject masculinity to the point they come off as sexist themselves. I do question if this rejection of classic masculinity was a driving force for their homosexuality or just an effect of it.

@beltalowda something that is not a choice doesn’t mean one can’t be conditioned or compelled. My point is, there are often gay males who’s mannerisms, speech patterns and sometimes beliefs are so hyper-feminized that their opinions regarding a real or imagined patriarchy may be biased by their life experiences and ‘inherent proclivities’ as you seem so certain they are. The issue is also maybe a little too close to home as a result his own dealings in show business, an often predacious environment even for a young man. I wouldn’t be surprised if he experienced some sort of patriarch but that doesn’t mean it applies to everybody else’s everyday life.
