***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Tuesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.Today we are giving an update on our Jersey cow, Hope, and her new calf along with other lessons we have learned on the farm this summer.

The more the new calf drinks Hope's milk the more he will smell like her. Their odor is determined by the mother's milk. He is smelling more like Hope and Henry! Hope can smell what you can't. It's one of the ways a cow can tell which is her calf. It's the same with most mammals.

AHHHH Hope is such a good Mama..one of God's wonders. Does my heart good in these awful times.

It's so heart warming to see Hope licking the little one. I love animals and wish everybody else loved them as much as I do. Regardless of what the animal is whether it be for meat, milk or a pet, it's good to see how much you care for your animals.
Absolutely loved this mornings video, it was so precious when Hope🐂 licked the new calf 🐄. I actually teared up. I felt the way Sara face looked such a precious moment. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. God bless your precious family.
Hope is the sweetest cow that I have ever seen. Love that moment she was licking the calf, that’s Hope’s way of showing she has taken her adopted calf for her own. 💕
I started to cry (with a huge smile on my face) when HHope started licking the new calf.
Sarah I love the way you take things in stride and just climb the gate.
I am so thrilled to see that Hope has accepted the new calf! Congratulations!
Yes Hope! I'm so glad she accepted the new baby! I was worries she wouldn't. Such a beautiful sight🤗
When hope licked the calf it brought a tear to my eye
I like when you found the first eggs in the rabbit nests and the rooster crowed, saying " She found them!"
The new calf looks less skinny already and Hope and Henry look terrific. Hope was awfully thin when you got her.
So awesome to see Hope licking the new baby. YAY!!!!!! So happy for you all. You all please take care and be safe!
HOPE,HENRY AND HAPPY,,,I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone looks so good!
The chickens with their little milk mustache reminds me of the cats in the barn begging for some hand milked lunch! So fun! Love seeing the animals-although I know you 2 are so busy! Take care.

I’d out a fake egg in each of the nests and the hidden ones, it means they will continue to lay there and not find a new place
Warmed my heart to see mama licking son no. 2. So happy it all seems to be working for their little “family” of 3.❤️
Hi guys. I just wanted to say what a fab job you have done with Hope, she looks in amazing condition, such an improvement to how she looked when you first got her. x
I used to have a hard time thinking about animals on a farm being processed, but now I think how wonderful that they really have a charmed life. It’s all good until one day it is quickly done with. You have healthy food and they were the lucky ones to not have lived in the factory farming system. Love your channel!
I wish I had the energy of these ducks first thing.
So sweet to see HOPE licking the new baby calf! Great video ! Also the chickens with the milk on their faces! So cute !
Great to see the little calf get lots of loving from Hope! 🥰
Absolutely love watching you two!! This very moment my family and I are in the Arkansas Osarks hunting for our very own homestead. We are leaving Goodyear AZ, the fastest growing city in America (west of Phoenix) ... we grew up there and The population/city growth is nothing like we have ever seen. People are fleeing California and the eastern states. My husband and I call this “the great migration”. We are migrating too, I was born in Yellville Arkansas and my parents left the area because there wasn’t work opportunity... the sold their 40 acres 😭 and moved west. Well 40 years later I am officially getting back to my roots! Thanks for reading! Take care, stay safe, and God bless you all!

That was so beautiful! Men don't usually express such feelings so publicly like you did. Sarah is a very lucky woman to having such a caring and proud husband!
WOW, talk about milk mustaches!!! :-) And SO glad to see that Hope is accepting the new little one!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! And YAY for cute baskets!!!
My mom said I must leave one egg in the nest otherwise they find another nest.
Loved seeing Hope licking the calf. What a great bonding to see now. All good now......
Hope is a good soul! She is a good mom to both her babies!❤️
Hope is giving him kisses!!!! What a blessing!
Awww... love your parents! So glad they get to be with you.
So glad to see y'all back & that mama is taking to her new calf..she's such a good mama
As soon as I saw sweet Hope licking the new baby, I said "all is well now"! No more worries because that's her way of letting it know she's mama and is going to take good care of it. I nearly cried when I saw her licking him. She's a good mama! Enjoyed seeing your other animals and going on an "Easter egg hunt" with you. That's so funny they do that instead of laying in their nesting box. I'd love to find someone near me that sold fresh eggs.
Lol those chicken with the milk running down their beards was so funny and just adorable!! And I thank God every time I see Hope and am thankful she is doing so well, that was some scare after sweet Henrybwas born. And her taking in the new calf is heartwarming. Blessings y'all!
Aww love to see her licking him! They look like they’re doing really well. Loved seeing all your critters. It’s getting cooler here in NH. Temps in the low forties and could have some colder mornings this week.
I remember when you first allowed those pigs over into that extra area, and it was solid with tall, overgrown grass and weeds. Didn't take them long the strip it down to bare dirt. I'm sure they were in "hog heaven" while doing it.
You must have a giant freezer!!! LOL Beautiful farm!!! I love that Hope adopted Harvey!!! TY
I loved seeing all the animals, but the best part was seeing hope totally accept the new calf. That is one special mama cow!
Didn't see a link or any thing on the community page to vote but I like "Hudson" for the new calf's name. I was so glad to see Hope licking and tending to the new baby. It really made me emotional. The whole farm is looking so beautiful and soon the pigs will furnish you with food and the gardens have been a bounty of glory.......so wonderful. This whole year has been a true testament of your journey and growth with being so dedicated to your land and your work. Everything looks fantastic and soon new neighbors in Kevins parents coming back to live by you. God is good and you shine goodness through His grace. An awesome year for you guys even through all the worlds turmoil. God bless! Love your channel and your teaching us all how to do things along with the recipes! Yumm It's a love love situation.
LOL!! The chickens put new meaning to GOT MILK.. Smiles! Hugs!
The new calf already looks like he is filling out. Good job Hope!
You have got to love the chickens MILK BEARD. more like a GOATEE On that larger egg. I once saw one that size with my chickens some years ago. I never thought about it till about a year later when one of the chickens laid another one the same size. When we went to cook the eggs they was no yolk. About a year later I was out on the property doing some late night work and I saw a really bright light come out of the coop. I did not hear anything. I did not think about it too much and I went on and finished my chores. The next morning my mom told my brother to go collet the eggs. When he came back he had a large egg just like the last 2 years. I asked my mom if we could try to hatch it. My mom was like OK but there has never been a yolk but you can try. So I tried. About 3 weeks later I got home from school and all my brothers and my parents were gone and the only think on the property besides the animals was this 25 foot chicken. He looked at me and said "Thank you for hatching me and sorry for your family but I was hungry" and he flew away never to be seen again. Sorry I have to go now the nurse is calling my name. It is time for my meds.
