How about Rolling Rust?
That “spreader bar” was used to replace the cut out piece of radiator support, it was to used adjust the front opening. It kept the front of the fenders sagging inward. That’s the way us old timers “I’m 75” removed and installed engines back in the day. This week a 6 cylinder, next a 327, then a 396 and then a 427. After blowing the V8s up back to the 6 cylinder. We didn’t have all the modern technology.

I kind of laughed when robby pulled the bar out wondering what it was for he just may fine he needs it on way home when fenders go flopping lolol

The engine in that 57 is not original that engine block has side mount boltholes. The original 57 Chevy did not have side mount bolt holes on the Block.
The good news is, you seem to know someone with a trailer, in every state, so even if you find a new problem on the way home, you'll still be fine.😂
WOW, Building a car with all new parts, sitting there waiting on you, not you waiting on parts! That's like a dream come true!
I am glad Summit is providing all of the New, Safe, parts for reassembly of your '57

How skinny these suspension parts are. I know these cars were simple body on frame constructions and most were built on the same platform for decades, but it still amazes me that you can get parts for these vehicles. We have a 1963 VW Beetle, 6 Volts! It has been impossible to find a starter for 30 years. I was able to fetch one from a Type 3 (the VW "Station Wagon") but now most guys swap the electrics for a 12V system. EDIT: I love the Summit guy!
Picking on Hillbilly a lot lately aren't ya, love watching you guy do crazy stuff
57 Chevy LS “Light Speed” That’s the nickname for the car and how fast you’ll be driving it back to Utah.
When i was getting my 69 c10 going. A majority of the parts came from summit. During corona even. Most places were 2+weeks minimum, summit i had 4 days later
The Boss again is the voice of reason!
Interesting , A big Thank You to Summit Racing and the team
@robbylayton, This is a great series. Love this project. What made this more fun to watch was your wife was included in the video making. Her making one liner comments were awesome. Example the time she worked with HillBilly on the control arms. Anyways can't wait to see the test of the build video and it's voyage home..❤❤❤
Robby I'm absolutely loving this build , the closest Ive ever gotten to this is my pile of 57 Chevy model car kits , I can't wait to see what you do with the body and paint when you get it home. Safe travels buddy and thanks for the content.
Subbed to Summit. They have some really good content!
I absolutely LOVE that Summit Sponsors SO many events, projects and people like you.. I'm currently restoring our '65 Chevy C10 and purchase from Summit as often as I can to help support THEM.. My wife and I are looking forward to ALL these videos..
Glad to see that the professionals ( Summit) are wearing safety glasses, while Robbie and Hillbilly don't need no stinking safety glasses 🤓🤣🤣
It's kinda like the Ghostbusters mobile when they first got it.....all it needs is, transmission, engine, brakes, muffler, steering wheel, clutch, tires, brakes, suspension, shocks, seats, heater, windows, driveline, axle,.wipers, heater, body panels, fenders, ........
Crazy the things you don't think about never imagined summit had a KZread channel I can't think of why
This reminds me of my dad and his 72 f 100 we put a complete rebuild of the truck in a three months and we put a race car engine in it and great video keep up the good work God bless from GA and stay safe
I've been a ford man all my life, but the 50s were good years for gm!! I did have a 52 pontiac chieftain w/flat 8! Might have kept it if it was a 12 volt LS system with a posi rear!
I would love to get in there with my welding gear and get those holes gone….👍
Now this is awesome. A quick simple runner in no time. Just goes to show you what $$ and people can do.
Brings back a lot of memories. I had a '57 Chevy Bel Air sport coupe after I got out of high school. It was 1962 and I paid $1095.00 for it from Baher Chevrolet in Manhattan Beach, CA. It seemed like a lot of money then because I was only making $1.45 an hour at a Union 76, (Unocal) later, gas station. I could kick myself for ever getting rid of it, but who knew. Great series. Love your channel.
I am questioning frame stability.
Use to work at Summit Racing in Tallmadge Ohio back in 1986. It was two separate warehouses then, quit after two weeks. Kinda regret it now. Can't wait for the finished build Robby and Hillbilly 👍

Maybelline, why can't you be true... Oh Maybelline, why can't you be true... You just thought about doing the things you used to do ! If you know the song then you know it was written for this sweet Chevy ! If you listen to the song you'll be hooked and I'm confident this is her new name... From one Robbie to another Robbie !
You will be able to call her Christine but watch out for the car radio...🤣🤣🤣

Good morning Robby watching new videos you upload is a great way to start my day. Normally a guy will wing it and hope for the best and screw it up before reading instructions. I have subscribed to Summit racing on here I am waiting for them to upload the motor installation video.
Saving a Classic ! Fantastic ! Thanks for sharing !
That is frightening to see all those rust holes in those rails with you planning a 2000 miles journey. When you get it back to RL base, are you going to lift the body off the frame and fix that frame at some point? Right now it has more holes than a tea bag.
Can't wait to hear it running, great video guy's.
Fav Chevy year! Would love to see this gem shine again
Hillbilly’s shoulders are broad, he lets it slide off like rain water. He knows you know, that he knows. Great team work.
The date code on the engine makes sense. If the badge on the trunk lid is original to the car, it came with an inline 6 from the factory. Someone probably transplanted the V8 into this car and added the V to the hood. This car is probably a 210 and not a Bel-Air, as it doesn't have the aluminum fillers on the quarter panel and the hood emblems are gold on a Bel-Air. Check the VIN tag to be sure. If it begins with a 'V', it had a V8. If the next letter is 'C', its a Bel-Air car. 'A' would have been a base 150, and 'B' would designate a 210. These were all just trim packages. All the Bel-Air trim parts are reproduced now and you can make it whatever you want. Great project, i can't wait to hear it roar!
That's amazing teardown and rebuild in such a short time...thx to Summit Racing.
You know what's odd is. Since i was a child I always wanted to goto Summit. I used to just look through there catalogs and dream. Now, I like like an hour from it, and still never been there. I am a Sub of Summit . Love your videos...so fun to watch. I love the 57 Chev rebuild.
Great fun series. You folks are always so positive. I dislike giving negative comments so I'll just say, judging from what we can see from the condition of the frame, I'd be real careful giving that LS the beans. You may end up with some kinda lowrider. Sparks a flyin' off the road.🔥🔥
You never stop with the new projects. Keep up the quality aoriste my mans.

Man. WHAT, A. TEAM!! That last shot of all 4 of them standing together. Powerful picture. And right before that, Robby, was going over all of the thousand’s of dollars they spent on the car. “THE UTAH-4 is what I’d call it!!! `
This is a great series, realized what I have done correct in the pass, what I should of done differently. You made a difficult task look easy.
Was on my way to Corydon Indiana and saw this car on 64 west 15 minutes from my destination. That was really cool wish I could have met you all.
Hilbilly is right. 5.0 is on point. Best sounding naturally aspirated engine out there.
Really digging the build. Best way to eliminate the future issues is to replace the old ones. Good call on the fuel lines brake lines and all the suspension parts. That stuff was really going to disappoint you somewhere not far from Cleveland. Keep up the great content.
Yes, this was fast and good work, nice to see it complet now!
Really enjoy watching this thing develop. Guess it will take another year or so for Robbie to get the body done when it gets "home".
When my husband and I were still dating I got gear oil in my hair - it took 4 washes to get it all out! This happened over 36 years ago and I still can't stand the smell of gear oil!

Your easily gonna have a million subs soon. Great channel!😀
Great summit made it all possible fot you guys good entertainment
Looks like you have a good start on the 57. It's a shame you can't take the time to clean the frame before installing your new parts. The front will have new control arms hanging from the dirty, rusty and unpainted frame. At least the rear end is only hanging from the rusty shackles. When you get back to Utah ha,ha you should spend time cleaning up the undercarriage before starting on the body work. Another thing, I hope you put some floor panels in place before the drive home. Your talking safe drive and it's a lot safer if you don't have holes in the floor the size of the Grand Canyon, that road debree can fly through. Yes, I want the babies to get mommy and daddy back in uno piece. Robby am I right about the Vett?
Hillbilly, you should start looking for a Old Police car like Crown Vic for your Broncstar motor, They were built super tough and can run pretty decent with a few tweaks and still remain budget friendly
Pinion angels should be set while the axle is under load,,,I.e ride height guys... ✌️👍🇬🇧

Here in the Netherlands we call it a elephant. A cherriepikker is wath they use in big warehouses to get stuff from a high story. Love what your doing btw.
Very good. Like these kind of builds.
Totally not hating but couldn’t you have come up with a better example of a 57 to start with? Coming to the rust belt to buy a vehicle like that seems a bit counter productive especially when you live so close to some of the best places in the country to buy clean rust free cars. The other things is why the heck didn’t you at least pressure wash that thing before you started putting all those new parts on it. Seems like now would be the best time to do some cleaning with everything off. I know your under a time constraint but geesh. That wouldn’t take up too much extra time. 🤷♂️ Any who I still love the car, love the build, and love you y’all, just a bit puzzled.
did you read instructions...Hillbilly "I done did that", GOLD.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Those Saginaw transmissions were bad a$$. Had one in my 67 Olds 442. Only shredded it once when I missed a power shift. My bad! Had it rebuilt, installed new clutch, throw out bearing, new U-joints, and Hurst shifter. Did all that for less than $200 (1971). Wish I had that one back.
name it The Ole Gray Whale I had one in the 70's, bought it for $750, I put a 67' 327 4 bolt Vet engine it it. Wrinkled the roof at the rear window from Banging the Clutch Street Racing. The Pickle Green Monster!

little suggestion...I accidently discovered a way to free seized leaf spring shackle bolts, after unbolting, removing nut, i pried one shackle just far enough off spring bushing to get a sawzall with a fine tooth metal cutting blade on the bolt it's self....intention, cut bolt, drive remainder out of spring on bench....in process trying to cut, the teeth, heat, vibration.. freed the bolt from spring...i was "why ain't this cutting?" then noticed the whole bolt was spinning, "DOH !!"...
