Well...folks, looks like we have us a cliff hanger!!! Stay tuned to see if Hillbilly can tell Robie "you know if we had a 5.0 we wouldn't be flying home" on the next episode of Robby Leighton Nation!!! 😮😊😂
Another video to be made on the 57 doesn't hurt my feelings! It gives us more time with the 57 rust bucket which I hope you fully restore! This saga without the help from Summit would take forever just to get running! This car deserves to look like it just came out of factory, and Robby is just the man to do it! Til next time, take care, and we'll see you on the next...

I second this, rebuild this car so the out side looks like new
Actually, the V8 side of the core support is inside. The 6 cylinder is two cylinders longer than the V8; hence mounting the radiator on the "grill" side of the core support. (I'm old, I remember!)

I was just about to write that. I’m not old and I know that, the summit guy is a little off on his knowledge as well, in another video he said that the 350 came out in 1974….. oops.

25:58 did he just say what I thought he said. You might want to edit that out.
back in '77 I had a car in Japan where the rust was terrible. I used the floor carpeting to keep peoples feet inside the car. When I was rotating back to the states, I gave the car to another guy because it was so rusted out and dangerous

Dude Looks Like a lot of Fun! I just converted my GMC Yukon Denali into a stealth mobile music and video editing studio/camper with solar power for refrigerator, interior lights, computer and sink with water pump! Video coming soon!
You didnt show how you "tightened" the loose front wheel bearings but I think you have them too tight! There must be some play too allow room for expansion as they get hot.( just enough to feel a knock/thunk as you pull in & out) If not they will overheat and seize up! I did the same disk conversion on my 57 Nomad. Lookin good!!

From Kenya east of Africa i watch all of your videos and i love it i would love to visit your work shop one day.
Nice Wyoming plate you got there... :) I'm a ford gal but I have always LOVED the '57 Chevy. Good job crew!!!

The drag link may be more than just touching the oil pan, there is no weight on the suspension. I would check it again when it has weight on it. Better to be safe than sorry.

As I was watching this for the second time and Robby says barely making contact I wondered if they took into account body roll during turns
I’m sad. Really wanted to see it start. Good luck, guys.
This past week or so has been the longest commercial for summit racing, I think I’m good for the rest of my life thanks! Can’t wait for the regularly scheduled programing to return.
So sorry you did not get the car going when you wanted. Hopefully it will be on the road soon😊
all of you are awesome. hope you rebuild this to almost Golden Nugget level!
We just Love ❤️ your Show... each episode is amazing... informative and entertaining... Just love ❤️ the Bosses adorable giggle.
Honestly would rather watch you do body work and paint cars vs watching a long commercial for Summit.
If you're watching the Summit channel.... enough said. This is going to be quite the cruise.
Says you have to wear safety glasses........and then doesn't wear safety glasses. lol. You and Hillbilly are awesome! Great video series!!!
Everyone used to Think 55,56 & 57 Chevy's drivers were the Nicest People who would even Wave to you as they drove by in the Rain, Guys, we were pulling a string attached to vacuum wipers that would not pull back without full vacuum during acceleration, probably crossed your plug wires

The coil pack for each cylinder is located directly above the cylinder it fires in. The LS is strange like that. 😊
Be patient, it’s all going to be okay. Get some sleep and finish tasks at hand. Good luck y’all. Safe trip home. 👍🛠
if you space the torque converter out like that that will put all the troque and horse power directly on those 3-4 bolts that hold the converter down to the flex[late that will put all 500 hp that motor make into those bolts ...it will shear them off at some point in time...think hole shot off the line.........

You've had all week, it's an American V-8, you got plenty of help, and hammers! Get. It. Running.
Us old guys may be called dinosaurs but we built cars that took a beating! And we didn't have kits kits and more kits ! Cross member is upside down , self tappers wont hold . Pinnion angle is set with weight on the axle and a 57 electric wiper motor bolts right on .go get another kit !

The whole point of the video was to highlight the parts/kits available from Summit Racing not to show off their fabrication skills.

Ok, I’m sure you dinosaurs could rebuild a complete basket case, rust bucket in a week’s time with nothing but hopes and dreams, right? Kit car? Get real. @samziarek5114

Times have changed and they don’t make OEM parts like they use to for vehicles like this. And as far as the cross member being upside down, the car was “built” long before they were even alive so chill, they’re learning. The self tappers have you maybe thought it’s just to get them home 🤦♂️ this isn’t a full restore.
I watched it start on summits channel last week
I've been watching since robby worked with matt on the golden nugget and I've got to say, this channel has become my favorite channel to watch. I love the work you guys do and you guys have a great crew!
I'am Loving this 57' build! There is defiantly some talent in that shop!
@Robby Layton Enjoying watching this collaborated build! Looking forward to seeing another build with Justin out at Robby's shop! A Chevy Malibu Wagon build with a LS swap would be cool! Doing a 4 door to 2 door conversion on the Malibu wagon would be really awesome! -Rob in Tennessee
I'm a '57 Heavy Chevy also!! 🤣 We are both 66! Thanks, guys.
Great advice that before mating surfaces should be clean
OH BOY !! Well hang in there crew that’s allot of work in a week let alone a month ! 😎👍🏻🇺🇸🦅🙏🏻😇ROBBY NATION !! You guys got this with SUMMIT !! 🇺🇸
Can't wait for this epic journey to begin. I'm running a sweep stake on whole will fall through the rotten floor, and if it rains how much water will come in through the holes. 😂 at leat it should run without any problems 🤞❤️👍
this is pretty cool Project, it is coming alone well. cant wait to see more videos soon. keep up the great craftsmanship an hard work my friends. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
So So close ! You will get there soon. Thanks for sharing +
I must take a road trip to see this 57'. I love this car.
Wow, I thought I subscribed. love all your projects. Matt's offroad has the Bombi project. Does his cab need an overhaul so he can have a back seat, and noise control? Might have to move the cab forward but havinng room for his crew would be handy.
Sssssome day y’all may be professionals at this. It takes guts to move from body work to engineering figuring you’re going to drive a mass of rust 2000 miles to get home. Hope your engine and the road is smooth so that the body doesn’t shake apart mid trip. The boss might fall out the bottom.
Summit Justin has the perfect attitude. I’m surprised you didn’t kidnap him and made him move to Utah.

So how/why is Bud there? I must have missed that part.
When the summit guy yells something about bats in the background🤣🤣 that clip was perfect
Ya got as far as Betsy Sue the Chevy would allow in this episode of dun dun dun "Adventures of The Raggedy Chevy Going Back To Utah"!!!😂🤣🤣 Things will work out for sure cause you are at Summit. Should use fuel injection. Make sure the ignition box doesn't require an injector pulse to start and check the crank and cam position sensors and wiring.
Great video!! You guys got a lot done!! Too bad it didn't fire up but I know after a good nights sleep you'll get it figured out!!
Robby I have faith in you, Hillbilly and The Boss making it back to SLC with this HOT 57 💙🤍💙 including Justin of Summit ✌️
Awesome job guys, almost ready to rumble.
Great video as usual. This '57 Chevy is going to be "spicey" with that LS3, Holley intake, Edelbrock 750 performance carb, TCI transmission and Currie posi rearend. Speaking of "spicey", Justin (and the editor) gave everyone the "spicey" version of the video at the 25:58 mark. 😯🥵🤐
@williambasinger5859
Жыл бұрын
Yes spicy it will be. I just can’t get behind this project because the bones of the vehicle are not there to support the upgrades being made they need to do the body and chassis work first just like was done on the golden nugget.
You ended the video there?! I know you got it running, 'cause I've seen the Summit Racing video!
Awesome video Happy 4th of July
Greetings from the other side Thanks for a nice post Probably too late but if the windscreen fogs don't bother with aircon just open those quarter windows an point onto screen Thanks again for fun an informative post 🤙🖖
If you drive that home. I hope you bring a support vehicle to go with it. Great video.
Criminy, that's just a cloud of rust held together by really old paint.
Too bad it didn't start tonight. But there is tomorrow!
With that floor…you could always Flintstone it home….😜
Rebuilt a 327 Chevy in a 69 C10. Put in a turbo 300 tran, which had a larger ujoint yoke than my driveshaft had. Rather than cut and weld on driveshaft we just used a ujoint for ford f250 4wd which was wide one half and narrow the other. Worked great!
This is an exciting build
It’ll be ok. It’s gonna run. Good job.
I would so love the contents of that workshop.
You may want to check the want to check your wiring on your coils they do have control of your timing and do to be put on a cerain way if they are not installed right you will have that very problem!
The biggest draw the LS has for me, is that it is a modern fuel injected motor. Putting a carb on it doesn't make any sense to me.
Derby guys love that stainless flex radiator hose! LOL
This project looks like big boy fun 🤩
That little chain tool for compressing the suspension was cool, not seen one of them before
Have you ever had any communication with Junkyard digs. He is doing a great job reviving cars, and with your fixing skills... Say no more. Up to you.
Yeppers! I always make sure my mating surfaces are clean! Yup!
I like that tool. It can come in handy for a lot of applications. 12:07
I love how that saying lives on expertly installed!
Video, expertly done!
You mounted the rad on the 6 cly side not the V8
Go to the Summit retail store and build a junk '57 from off the shelf parts in a few days. It'll be fun they said...........A lot like David Freiburger doing an engine swap in the parking lot at Summit without the snow. Great series, but you can see the wear and tear on your team. Take it easy on the 2k ride back home.
Once again, you (Robby), Hillbilly, and The Boss are all quick thinking problem solvers. A.K.A. good mechanics. As much as I think Mr. Enthusiasm, a.k.a. Summit Guy, is a good marketing rep for the company, he seems to me to be long winded but a tad short on real experience. But I did watch the Summit video and I know it eventually started,,,,, . Actually, that video doesn't really make it clear but I suspect you or Hillbilly actually figured out the problem.

As a mechanic for my entire life coming from a family full of them, I feel like I have a good radar for being able to tell if somebody actually knows how to do anything or not. I immediately thought the summit guy was full of it lol. I can tell he’s one of the younger guys who went to some tech school for 2 years and learned how engines work in a book and on a computer screen but has very little if any real world knowledge or experience. We’ve hired a couple guys like that who could talk a big game but couldn’t diagnose a damn thing and would do silly things like break bolts off and forget to pump the brakes before pulling out after a brake job. He’s in a good job for that skill set though, he just has to film videos putting on brand new parts from the store lol

@@jesseleesamples I could not have said it better myself!! he has not been in school. Everybody has to learn sometime I understand. But experience something that college can’t buy. I have learned that over my last 35 years of working on any kind of combustion engine.

Pop quiz, any mechanic that has less than 10 years experience, if I brought my car to you and my cigarette, lighter was not working. What would be the very first thing you tried.
Let me guess the right side and the left side wire harness to the coils are backwards
Why didnt you get an under dash ac kit while you put so many kits in the car !
Thought of a name. Its a rust bucket so paint it gold and call it The Golden Bucket. Not a nugget gold but closer to like 90s mazda gold.
You guys have made the ls swap way more difficult than it needed to be. I have done that very swap and 41 others. Efi is the best way to go. Stock harness or aftermarket, stock gm ecm and roll.
This is awesome. I remember how this car was when my dudes at wd first got it!❤❤❤
Your suspension should be loaded when making driveshaft length measurements..
Great video
That guy and the Ford horn 😂😂 “This after a market. How fun”
Robby. On 1330 yokes ALWAYS check the cap size. Some are 1and a 16thinch. Fords use 1 and a 8th inch cap.
What did Hillbilly do? Steal all the plates from the Walmart parking lot 😂😂😂😂
Nice work Guys we know it runs
