Will Penguins' Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin take issue with lack of NHL free agency deals?

Спорт

On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey reacts to the Penguins moves -- or lack thereof -- on the first day of NHL free agency. Do additions including Blake Lizotte, Matt Grzelcyk and Anthony Beauvillier make GM Kyle Dubas' roster significantly better? Will Reilly Smith be missed after he was traded to the New York Rangers? What will the core of veteran stars including Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang thing about the lack of splashy moves? And elsewhere, what should we make of former Penguins Jake Guentzel's nine-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning?
Jason tackles those questions, then previews the Pirates' series against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park.

I don’t mind these signings IF they were made with an additional splash. For example if they went out and signed a guy like marchessault and then made these moves, I’m happy. But right now I’m feeling underwhelmed. Maybe there’s still the possibility of something more happening, rumors of a Jarry trade for spark something but I don’t see a top 6 forward coming back in that return…

The time for superserving 87 is OVER. He GOT what he wanted…..the 3 Amigos together forever. Enough is enough.

Dubas' MO...go look in Toronto and the Soo in the OHL and you will see it is consistent: Load up on picks and prospects Give out more term and money in contracts than was expected Mostly skilled water bug type players (ie small) Take a bunch of flyers on other teams scratches and rags in hopes of hitting a homer Proceed to then trade picks and prospects *note most of those trades don't work out Fail to build a bottom 6 Fail to build a good bottom 4 on D Fail to win when it matters But for some reason people think he is something more than an average GM...so much so that Pittsburgh gave him full control for 7 years for lots of money...a guy who hasn't accomplished anything in this league or any league yet.

If I was Sid I would want out...he's too loyal and respectful for that...but Dubas is just creating a massacre here.....People love Dubas...and I don't get why....he has never won whether in the OHL, or with the Leafs....has shown a poor track record of building a bottom 6 or bottom 4 D.....and his approach of "loading on pics and prospects" failed in Toronto...because he didn't win a trade he made (with exception of Ryan O'Reilly trade in Toronto). Hayes worse than Smith Bottom 6 worse than last year And O'connor is expecting to fill the shoes of a winner in Guentzel.... Good luck...the team is in for a massacre... Former players, coaches, execs on TV and the ones I play pick up with are shaking their heads and frustrated for Sid.

Sid helped create this mess. They should have moved on from Malkin 6 years ago. Sid didn't allow that, probably up to basically forcing Rutherford out. Sid's watched and participated in this pathetic PP for years and let it happen

Take it from a Leafs fan, you're stuck with Harry Potter as your GM. He ruined our team, bad decisions top to bottom. Good luck with this guy you all wanted so bad Pens fans lol
