It’s called a Bristol wrench. I have one that took me forever to get. No one will tell you what size it is. It’s top secret I guess

Greeting! And right at the beginning, I wish you a Merry Christmas and an excellent coming year. Greetings from Finland! I like your videos and I also dream of having my own farm where I could implement similar projects =) P.s this is already my third channel through which I subscribe to your channel =)
This is my opinion. Your longer videos are not a bad thing, I'm looking forward to part two. 😊

I usually only like long videos
That air hammer/torx bit combo was mint!
1. You’re a glutton for punishment. 2. You’ve got a gift that keeps on giving! I could say more but I’d be repeating myself.
That is one nasty injection pump. That's about as bad as it gets. Great job cleaning it up. Can't wait to see part 2.
I kept saying to myself “just send it to Area Diesel” as you were trying to loosen that ball nut. I was sure you were going to break it but I was obviously wrong. Never underestimate the determination and resourcefulness of a farmer. That was very satisfying to watch.
Farmcraft is prob my favorite channel on KZread!!❤❤😊😊

Yay! You deserve a very Merry Christmas! Because you're giving us one!
If I bought as many ‘toys’ as you (lathe, mill, plant vehicles etc), I have a feeling that I wouldn’t stay married for very long. Good luck my friend.
The vibrating aero-hammer was a stroke of genius.
Great advice with the fuel pump. I am a great believer in "If you don't know how something DOES work, you will never know why is DOESN'T work"
Laughed out loud when the air hammer trick worked
My jaw dropped when you got that off without breaking it, Bravo!
Greetings folks! We have content for at least another 6 months!! 😂
In this throw-away world, it's so satisfying to watch someone bring something back to life and then use it. Good luck with this one, probably need to attack the fuel tank asap, so you don't have the problems that you had with the dozer.
You could take a train locomotive apart blindfolded and reassemble it upside down under water with only your left hand!! Amazing skill set sir
It’s funny everyone complains about poor design in modern vehicles regarding ease of repair, the old stuff had its challenges too.
*- Good content.* *- And you seemed to enjoy yourself, too.* *- What more could we want?*
John, if anyone any man is the one to take on a project of this scope, it's you. I love you videos, man. Thank you.
"I do believe we just ruled out an easy fix". Genuine LOL!
I think a full strip down and rebuild of the entire machine, repaint and so on would be awesome
TGIJP...Thank God its Jons project! Your humor about your frustrations entertain the world! I appreciate you taking on the repairs instead of farming them out. Hollywood can't come close to your productions.
That thing is making oil!!!👍😂
Don't know why you don't keep going I'm doing just fine sitting here watching. Thanks for taking me along
Flossing your engine while having new shaft made. What a life!
Working on that fuel pump feels like an episode of Wristwatch Revival!
Thanks for not letting us wait for a week on part 2🎉🎉
You're a far, far braver man than I, Gunga Din, to tackle that fuel control.
Its a day. John uploads a 1 hour video,i like i comment i enjoy life, thanks, appriciet your work
LONG ............... I PERSONALLY ENJOY LONGER VIDEOS !!! REALLY LIKED THIS ONE MAN , GOOD JOB !!!
And you... have an awesome weekend... don't do what I wouldn't do!!😁😁
If you get that pump back together and it actually pumps fuel I will be one impressed son of a gun. Good luck, love your "I can do this" attitude.
More great stuff! Just as a suggested precaution for the future: when I'm connecting a battery to old stuff with janky wiring (as in this case), I'd always loosely 'secure' the earth/ground cable terminal clamp with a vise-grips or similar, and NOT tighten the clamp bolt. This gives me a quick-disconnect if/when the smoke and fire starts escaping. There's nothing quite like flailing around with a wrench or a pliers while the wiring loom is converting itself into an incendiary device :-)

Good advice!
At first by curiosity and to improve my english, i'm finally totally addicted to your videos. So happy there will be an second episode soon, have to negotiate with my wife now...
Area Diesel are fist rate..learned of them thru Wes..and followed Wes on the tour of their shop..remarkable folks who are class acts..honest and excellent results..good of you to give them a proper shout out John..
When heavy machinery goes electric, this video will be a reason to go electric. Thanks for all the work, else it would never get done.
“When ever I work on a new machine it makes me feel like an idiot again” hahah I thought that was just me!
U gotta have a clean shaft ❤😂
I work the telecommunications industry and the positive has always been grounded for the corrosion reasons you mentioned.
Everyone: *sad face* at not seeing it rebuilt. Also everyone: That means more videos!! Thanks for the effort to tear down, very interesting mechanics for the era. No computers, just hand drawn engineering.
Sooooo much tasty content! Diesel fuel pump rebuild, rechroming every cylinder rod (and those SEAL kits), fuel tank unsplooging, shift linkage uncrusting, hopefully NOT: brake clutch rebuilds, blown hydraulic line replacements, seat replacement, pressure washing, wire brushing, and repainting! Whew! Gotta take a nap. I am plumb wore out just thinking about all the hard work WE have to do!

Almost forgot about all the dodgy wiring!
Jon, good for you, I have watched quite a few of this or similar pumps like it, torn down and then they are sent of to a pump specialist, like ADS, so it’s really great that they are working with you. I have watched a few of there repairs and those guys are awesome, very knowledgeable and a great representation of there business. Can’t wait for part 2. I’m watching this at 0410 hrs in Australia, now mate that’s how much I like your vlogs
@Hyratel

ADS seem like a very Stand Up Straight sort of folks, and what they do is extremely specialised, yet in moderately high demand, so if they can spend 30 minutes on the phone and mail out a kit of parts to FC101 instead of investing 10 manhours of work into the pump themselves, they get the good PR of being helpful, John gets an interesting video out of it, and Matt Diesel Creek gets to be good-naturedly ribbed for John figuring out how to pop that ball fitting loose without shattering it

You explain stuff so well. You'd be a really good teacher.
How the heck do you know about such seemingly obscure things as a weighted basket (whatever that is)? I would love to see you make a video about your background and how you learned all this other than, "Well, I just mess around with it!" I am pretty sure a "John's mini-bio" would be a hit! There was that rock-climbing reference (from a lift video), your ability to explain things well and other clues are tantalizing! I am thinking that you were a teacher who at one point who did some climbing as well as caving. What seems to be Blue Water static rope made an appearance more than once. Inquiring Minds Want to Know. Or, to put it another way, I am nosy!

I think its 99% self taught via youtube and other online sources. He mentioned he was actually working in the construction industry as a framer before he became a farmer, at least thats what I remember.
You can tell it's almost Christmas! Thanks, it looks like a lot of hard work but I'm sure the old girl will be grateful to you.
That pump was probably designed in the late 50s. The Torx screw was invented and patented in 1967 by Textron (the aerospace conglomerate). So probably why they used a custom tool back in the day.
Just a thought.... I frequently watch much longer videos so that's not an issue... Your working knowledge of things makes the time fly and much appreciated. Best of luck to you!!
MAN that pop when you finally got the ball screw thingy loose was so satisfying, had a similar experience the other day while removing my old AC unit, getting the tubing loose after fighting with it for 20 minutes gave me so much relief!
John Deere 1010 Crawler Tractor was produced in the 1960s and was available in various configurations for different applications, such as agriculture and construction. The 1010 Series included models with different attachments and capabilities.
I don’t know about others, but I enjoy the longer video’s when the topic is interesting. 15-20 minutes is way too short. 45 to 60 minutes is just right.
At 7:50 the lever on the dash is a shuttle shift to go from forward to reverse in any gear without the clutch. I have a 1010 crawler , just hope you never have to replace the cylinder liners. This tractor was the worst design ever. May the force be with you. Check your timing by moving the flap on the bellhousing by loosening the round head screw and sliding the metal flap up out of the way.

Oh my days .. I love my Friday hour with John (😳😉) .. cup of tea and settle down and I begin to get Deja Vu .. and then he mentions Matt at Diesel Creek … now I remember 😉🤣 then the best part is .. there’s a part 2 tomorrow.. cracking 😉 Look forward to it .. kettle will be boiled 😉🍿 Keep up the good work John 👍😊
I just love to watch you John work thing out very clever 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great place for a break, Jon! I appreciate going through and making guesses at how the machinery functions, and then learning what's ACTUALLY going on, and getting some expert opinions on what's OK and what needs replacing. Much more interesting than just throwing dollars and parts at it! Looking forward to part 2, and seeing the old girl come back to life!
YOUR THE MAN JOHN. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS.
Awesome sauce, nothing says a great weekend when a dormant machine awakens! Good luck
Always a laugh to see the seals😂
The latest news was great, I can't wait for it to happen tomorrow. John, we glad to have you.
Nice job on getting that ball out of the pump without breaking it, I bet that felt good!!
A dreary Friday afternoon and a new video from Jon. Life is good.
I'm sure this trackloader will spawn a whole series of video's, much more than you anticipated 😁 So it's a fitting continuation of your dozer and excavator video's 😉 More headaches for you, but good content for us 🤣😅
Woo! So glad Part 2 is coming out tomorrow. This is already a really interesting rebuild.
Man I love these. I know nothing about what he is doing, but I am glued to every minute. It reminds me of Sherlock Holmes novels. I watch Sherlock figure out the mystery, bit by bit, Then finally ... success. So satisfying!
"Oh my, oh my..." as I pace the floor back and forth! LOL🤪
The lever on the left side of the dash is the reverser, if you're smart and it works put it in forward and never touch it again and just use reverse on the transmission. They are notorious for giving trouble. They are a PITA to work on and very expensive to repair. Farmer John in Ga. is a wealth of knowledge on those things and has a ton of parts both new and used for them. You will need them.
Always blows my mind when something purely mechanical produces low/high pressure fluid motion. Had no idea.
Do U ever wonder WHY we put ourselves through ALL this hassle ?! Thanks for a great video, Mr. SPIELBERG!
I am not trying to be a prick. But If an engine has water in the oil. The water is at the lower part of the oil pan, which is where you oil pumps sump is. So therefore the pump draws the water in first, putting it in all the major parts which have been sitting and drying out over the years. I love your channel and always leave a like. So please don't be mad. Just a few things this old man learned over the years.
I don't get why your using the open end of a spanner on tight starter bolts. Surely the ring end with 6 points of contact would allow more force and less danger of rounding the bolt. PS I like your videos.
Great new episode of DieselCreek.. I mean Farmcraft101 😂 Great video again John 😊👍
Don’t mind the long videos at all!
Please never worry about the length of your videos, they're very interesting your explanations are interesting, your self depricating humour is endearing and your voice is very soothing.
Farmcraft101 Part Deux? Ohh man. My weekend just got 100% better.
John, you didn't have to have part 2 tomorrow. I am just happy that there is more. This video was great! And it is extra great of you to work extra hard to get part 2 so quickly. You really are a good guy!😊
Great video as always, Jon. I would not crank it without at least cracking open the oil drain plug and seeing what comes out of there. When the oil level is too high, there's always a risk that the crankcase is full of water or coolant with oil floating on top. Not the best thing to run trough the bearings.
You could have saved the next part for next week and I would have still been happy. Still waiting on content from much higher budget channels for more than a year and in that time you have had what 2 weeks of vacation. Great work, you could easily allow yourself at least 3 more weeks of vacation a year it's well earned.
Nothing better to start the weekend off like a notification from Farmcraft
I loved the "I have 2 issues" segment..Lol. Sounds like you got a good injection pump shop! Very cool. Can't wait to see the next vid on this!
Clint from C&C equipment is very knowledgeable when it comes to JD machines , cause I’m sure there will be other curve balls thrown into the mix
lookin forward to the next video, we need to get Matt to post a few videos every week LOL
I have been an avid fan of your channel for awhile. Diesel Creek as well. Northwest Hillbilly too, and others. Thanks for sharing. Area Diesel is quite the safety net as they have amazing resources and craftsmanship. Good luck, looking forward to #2.
High marks for trying it yourself..❤. (No matter the outcome..)
Farm Craft Friday!! very little work getting done today
those are some nice looking gauges
Yey!! Pt.2 tomorrow.... But only gonna watch if the beautiful Jennifer makes an appearance!
That looks like a piece of equipment that needs to go to Diesel Creek! Props for digging into it John.
Jon make your videos as long as you want and most of us will watch every minute.
Just a thought since there is no fuel gauge I wonder if one to the fuel valves hooks to the tank at lower point so you have a reserve tank. An old motorbike of mine had this system.
This was a great video. Always learn something new here.
Congrats John, on not going crazy yet, on getting the fuel pump apart. crazy rusty parts, no wonder it didn't work. next time new parts.
I enjoyed this video......I was bummed that it was over....
Nice job, I bet the guys at area diesel service were watching this in their lunch break having a great time.😁 “ yep he’s actually gunna do it, “😂
Always enjoy following along with your crazy shenanigans!😂 The majority of them actually work!
Simple Projects = Lots of time always
I am excited about this new project. These restoration/rebuild series you do are so much better than the heavily produced ones that cut out all the trials and tribulations. It is just so much more real seeing a farmer figure it out without having a $20k special machine that was given to them as a sponsorship to show how "easy" it can be. Thanks for these, truly.
100% agree. Nothing worse than trying to create solutions behind some else's work.
I know we all would be interested in the autopsy from down under. Cheers
Omg that Pump is Disgusting Holy crap at all the Debris Jon 36:40 @FarmCraft101
Jon, I look forward to watching your video, every week. Tomorrow is going to be a tough one for me. Anniversary of losing my mom. My plans were to sit and cry. Now I have another new video to watch! I know it's not what you planned, but man does it help me look forward to something and get my mind off things. Even if just for a short while.
