I’m ready to get back to hot rodding, but I will say I have enjoyed this a lot more than I thought. I think there’s an instant gratification quality to it. Like yeah I took a couple days but A car build can take years …. Makes me understand the will it run craze, there’s really nothing to lose by trying. Yeah the German Shepherd’s real sweet she’s a rescue. We are fostering. She does need to find a forever home in case you are interested lol

Anybody who references good ole George Jones in their video is alright in my book. Good work. Even the greatest master once knew nothing about that which they have mastered. As long as it's fun and you're learning something it's always worthwhile. At least some level of fun. Can't knock saving money by making the old useable once again either.

This brings back memories. My first riding mower was a Murray like that but older that me and my dad salvaged from my neighbor. It didn’t have a 6 speed it had a high and a low speed. So I had bought another house and had remodeled everything including the yard. Short story long that thing would not cut level. It always cut lower on the left side. So one Sunday morning after making a couple passes and still cutting uneven I got pissed off and went and got a Sunday paper, pulled out the Sears ad and they had a mower sale. I called the number on my Sears card and checked my available credit told the old lady I’m going to Sears to buy myself a new mower and so I did. Had that mower 18 years and still looked and ran like new when I sold it. The problem with the old Murray was that the shaft on the spindle was bent. My dad fixed it and we used it at my grandparents house for 3 or 4 years. Good Times!

Well done on getting the old Murray back up and running. I have a bit of a collection of garden tractors and riding mowers (Murray, SEARS, Ford) and love getting the old ones from the 70's running again. If you need to tip the mower over, lean it the other way so you keep the carb up so you don't drain your oil out of the crank case vent. If you tip it far enough though, you may still lose some out the filler tube.

One more comment/suggestion about that damn dog. When I bought my new house I didn’t know the neighbor behind me was the dog whisperer! I swear they went to the pound every other weekend and picked up a dog. At one time I counted 9 and they barked 24/7 and they had a dog door that they could come and go all the time. Well I just so happen one evening to have had a firecracker and tossed it in my burn barrel and when it blew those dogs hauled ass to get back inside the house. So this discovery led to me removing my screen off my master bathroom window! So when those dogs started barking at all hours of the night I’d roll out of bed grab a firecracker out of the vanity drawer, ease the window open light and drop it and return to bed. Problem solved for atleast 2-3 hours! Ever seen 8 dogs trying to get through a dog door at one time? Pretty damn funny! I ended up finding what they call a sonic birdhouse. It was activated by barking and it would let off a silent frequency and shut those damn dogs up! They finally moved thank god! Look on Amazon for that bird house or something like that! Good Luck!

I have the older version of that Murray and the deck is designed to be unhooked from the front, unclimbed from the side hangers at the top, and then disconnected from the control rod. Then it slides out from the side. Also yours has a metal drive wheel on the deck which is good because the plastic ones break often. (I put an 18hp ohv into mine when I had problems with the 12 hp. )

Fill it up with my air compressor at the other shop take it back, then install it on the lawnmower.

Around the seat area underneath it.,or on the outside of it one. The last four numbers.,or whatever is your looking for the year. And the model and serial is for parts ordering to. In my opinion those style mowers are hot garbage. Save the engine and scrap the rest.

@@betweenthesharksgarage they work. Just unpleasant to work on. Watch that deck. It’s really not safe with holes in it like that.

@@betweenthesharksgarage I got mine in a weird way. I was getting a Eaton 6 speed out of a dually dodge truck and it fell out of the shifter boot. I wear it on the middle finger right hand as it's too big fer all the other fingers and too small fer my left middle finger.
