What nobody really knows or is talking about is that NZ had a terrible lead up imo. They formed a new squad 2 or 3 months out and used new combinations. I never thought we had a chance, it was the weakest I'd seen us. There wasn't great team unity in a playing sense, and the break down speed/support was down. Our individual abilities got us far, but the team play and support wasn't there imo. Many if the older players had long injuries and lost form as a result. England were great though, played as a team and looked unbeatable.

Actually agree with you. Watch a lot of Super Rugby and Mitre 10 stuff and have thought for a couple of years you guys are missing some of the key factors that made you're 2015 incredible. The goal kicking and kicking from hand in most club rugby is not where it should be. Mounga did well tbf but there is not much behind him. Out of hand and tactically I would say this is lacking in most 9 and 10s at this time. Not dreadful by any stretch but not too top class. The turnover merchants are not there at the moment either. You will always miss a guy as good as McCaw but the back row is the weakest I've seen you have since before 2007. Finally the midfield lacks a touch of creativity. Someone like Ben Smith could create a spark out of nothing in the past. The front row also will not scare any of the big teams. Still I expect you guys will be back on top before too long. You still lead the way in the game and are great to watch!

Their forwards were beasted - I think even as Bokke fans we didn't see that coming to the level that it happened. All of the SA players brought their 'A' game and Vermeulen brought his 'Thor' game. I don't think that England were arrogant at all, they just weren't allowed to lift or play their game as they did against NZ. I can't remember who it was (Matt Dawson??), but one England ex-player said before the game that not one SA player would make a squad selected from both Eng. and SA - the following day, I would ask which England player would make the mixed squad?? As a fan, we dreamed of victory, but were not confident at all, because England played so well against NZ (who beat us) - the manner of the victory was beyond my dreams.

Hi Dirshan. Us English, are far from arrogant in general, bro. We're so used to failing at the last hurdle that most of us (the majority of realists) don't expect to win anything. Cricket, for example, has been a clusterfuck of results since our WC win and the best we managed was a dull draw in the Ashes. Euro 2020? No chance. I don't believe there's an English person I know or will meet who thinks we'll do any better than quarter finals. If we get to the semi's I'd be ecstatic. As for the rugby, anything can happen in a final and it usually does. England fans will be hoping we can overcome a very strong and big Springboks side, but it will be hard and close. It's commentators the world over who have made England favourites, and it's a tag we don't like wearing. Take it from a born and bred 40-something year old Englishman. We're not arrogant at all. Well most of us aren't anyway. We're used to losing mate, and that breeds pessimism not arrogance. Do I think we can win? Sure, why not? If we reproduce better football than the NZ game there's every chance. However, I'd be stupid to write-off two time winners and the team many had as favourites at the start. So, do I think we will win? For me, it's anyone's game. It's going to take something special for either side.

Great honest comments by all below, I'm a born and bred Southern African and love following European views on the Boks and sport in general. I must agree that the media have written off the Boks in most of the vids I encounter since Saturday. I am sure both teams are super amped for the game and would love to win. The Boks has amazingly got to the finals while not a lot of SA fans were giving them chance. The English looks in awesome form and can be potent. However, playing the Bok team as an underdog can very dangerous. I know the pride and all political interference in the team may have united the team, hence the dogged results keep coming. BEST OF LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS - im looking forward to the physical aspect.

Personally, I had the Boks as my favourite to win before the tournament started. I thought, England would get to the Semi-final at best, and most likely go out at the quarter stage, but it's been a pleasant surprise. England may have played the best rugby of the tournament, but SA are at the final on merit and beaten some tough opposition to get here. I think the Boks will relish going into the game as underdogs and I don't believe - on the other hand - that England wear the badge of favourites with any relish at all. All the best bro. Completely agree with Willie G about Wales. Ironically George Ford would never get into a Gatland team through physique, and Biggar - playing so deep, and bereft of an individual running game - would struggle to get into a Eddie Jones team.

England wont be able to play same game as it wont help much. Maybe on attack they can play the same. Boks are playing championship final rugby. Boring but minimum mistakes. Look at past world cups..loads won in extra time or last 10 mins. You cant afford a mistake. The bok pack also dont defend like new Zealand...they hit you back braking momentum. If Eddy dont prepare for this he be in trouble. But knowing him he knows this. He will play accordingly..i be very surprised if he runs the ball like a normal game. I think he will also play championship final rugby. Game will be boring and will be win in last 10 mins i think. Just my opinion.

Remember Eddie was part of the 2007 SA coaching staff so he has a pretty good grounding in Springbok rugby. Agree, South Africa are much more aggressive at the breakdown so England will have to commit more resources there. However, in my opinion Anthony Watson is the unsung hero of the English backline, usually breaking the first tackle, often the second and sometimes the third. This is where I see some English magic and the difference between the two sides.

@@LoneWolf-ck7pj South Africa play a certain way and if they at their best playing that way you have to beat them at that way. Thats exactly what England did to all blacks. Dont let them play their game. If England can let the boks make mistakes well its yours. If the boks win the scrum and drives it will be more difficult. i do think England have stronger line out? In the end...i think its gona be a massive battle. I carry both passports...but i was born in SA and here today. So i prefer the boks..but if the English kick ass and deserve it..i also be happy. Last thought..it wont be the all black game..i think its more gona be like the welsh game. Final rugby...i be surprised if England throw the ball around to one of the best defensive sides. Good luck may the best team lift the cup.

Tell Will Greenwood that Swing Low Sweet Chariot is an incredible song. It is a slave song. The whites in the deep south used to teach the blacks only the old testament. So the blacks made an incredibly complex song about Jesus from the old testament. It's singing about Elijah's Chariot (Elijah didn't die he went up to heaven in a Chariot from God) The sweet Chariot is the thing God takes you to heaven with. Hence "sweet" (they'd rather be dead than a slave) and "swing low" (you will have to scoop low to collect us Lord, we are only slaves) and "home" is heaven. They are talking about being slaves wanting to die. The second verse is the hope in the resurrection: "looked out over the jordan" means they are 40 years in the wilderness as moses was looking over the Jordan aching to cross. "A band of Angel's coming after me" means that angels came to get them jordan is death and the promised land is heaven. The red sea was a parallel of baptism the river jordan was a parallel of death. Wilderness is life now. Not in Egypt (sin) but not in the promise land (Israel) the land flowing with milk and honey. It's an incredible hymn or spiritual song.

This nonsense about people saying the haka should be respected.... The whole point in the Haka is to intimidate, to boost NZ pride and adrenalin before the game......and the opposing team is expected to stand there and watch. It's ridiculous. Who knows how much the haka actually boosts the All Blacks and how much it psychologically affects the opposing team...... there probably is an advantage gained from NZ doing it, so why they are even allowed to do it....well I guess we know why, because it's a marketing ploy by world rugby. If they want to do the Haka, they can do it in their warm up, without the opposing team having to watch.
