I've been a Jackson Browne follower for about 45 years, and "These Days," written when he was 16, has always been one of my favorites. Jackson was not the first to record the song, however; his girlfriend, Nico, recorded it; both she and Jackson were members of the Velvet Underground band. Another highly successful recording pre-dating Browne's was by his good friend and roomie on the West Coast for a spell, Gregg Allman, another big favorite of mine. Other than Jackson's version, the Allman version was the only one that appealed to me... so I was leary when I ran across Will Carter's (who I'd never heard of) version of the song here on KZread. Listened to it and I am now a fan of Mr. Carter. He sticks close to Browne's structure of the song, but adds some cool alterations, especially that guitar lick in the opening chords, after the soft intro to the song. I've played guitar for over 50 years, but this song is the first one where I've actually learned a little finger-picking, as Jackson does on his Acoustic Live Solo album recording of "These Days." Helix with a wireless setup... who knew that could be so incredible. Blown away with that tone. Looper is a nice touch. Bass player and drummer are great musicians.

Nicely done. I first Jackson around 1970 and have been a been fan ever since. Although I love the way Jackson plays his own song, Gregg Allman gives the song some soul. This guy does a great job with the song as well. I’m a new fan.

I saw Jackson in a comeback concert in1979 at MTSU. He explained how he had been booed off the stage for the main act. Truly a humble man that will be proud of your doing his song and making it your own REALLY COOL WILL❣️. ✌️😎👍

I like this one, but my favorite version is the one played by David Allan Coe

My day just improved. I was skeptical when I read the title as there are some artists who just shouldn't be covered. You did this far beyond justice. Bravo. If you're ever in my neck of the woods I'm getting a ticket. BTW... that Jacket is awesome!

Greg Allmans cover has been a bench standard for decades, his voice well carries the aingst of the song. Will does a brilliantly good version here, as his guitar work covers a more plan vocal style.

HOW does this amazing song have less than 1,000 plays on Spotify? This is legendary. This is amazing. This is being played while they set my pyre ablaze and roll it off the Empire State Building.

Doesn’t really get any better than that.

Been using the helix live almost always since 2018. I usually use it as an effects unit into real tube amps.
