Gregg Allman & Jackson Browne Segment

Музыка

"I wrote 'These Days' before I met Gregg. He heard me play the song when we were first friends, I guess we were probably both 18," Jackson Browne tells Blackbird about Gregg Allman in this concert clip. "The way he did that song completely changed it, I think for me and for everybody... I could write a song like that but when it came time to singing it, Gregg really gave it a kind of graveness and gravity that the song can hold." Relive the magic of Gregg and Jackson performing "These Days" together for the first time, right here.

After Gregg's funeral, Jackson wanted to play, somewhere. He went to a place called Grant's Lounge, where the Brother's and everyone else played back in the'70's. He may have for all I know, was too young to go back then. Folks had a real shock that night. The talent that came there, for Gregg's memory was amazing. Thank Jackson. That was appreciated by everyone who just happened to be there that night. Adding, being Gregg's friend was not an easy thing for a long time. Have had some friends like that myself. Jackson is on helluva good man, will leave that there.

KSC Clinic...Yes, I agree about Jackson Browne being so young and still writing a song that you would expect a much older person with a lot of experiences to write. This is the mark of a truly gifted writer. I heard Gregg's version way back in the 70's and he sang it to perfection, but I also like Glen Campbell's version too and if you haven't heard Glen's version I highly encourage anyone who reads this to check it out: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKqFmZmJn7GwZqg.html. He does several more renditions of These Days, but I particularly like this one because Glen is a lot older and this song fits the kind of life that Glen had.

"Please don't confront me with my failures......... I'm aware of them." One of the more awesome lyric lines in any song ever in the history of music, in my opinion. In the heavier rock genre, I like Plant with his "The dogs of doom are howling more" as well as Waters and his "And the worms ate into his brain." I'm a MUSIC man first, but lyrics can sometimes make a song, of course. I offer Neil Young and Dylan as some prime examples. Rock on, people. Happy New Year, 2020.

Well I had a lover, I don't think I'll risk another these days these days I seem to be afraid to live the life that I've made .. It's just that I have been losing ... so long... Little did I know when I first listened to this song how true these words would one day ring. Yet.. I do still to this day love this song endlessly ... Gregg Allman and Jackson Browne .. two of the ultimate greats ... ok.. I need to start this from the beginning and listen .. yet again... even though it will make me cry ....

This song brings back so many memories of mine! In the early seventies, I had my first real love! She swept me off my feet! We became engaged. We didn’t quite make it the alter, but that was my fault! I was much too immature and I didn’t get myself straight! I lost her and another one that I couldn’t hang on to! It was a good time and a bad time! I guess it had to happen!
