The tune is most associated with Northumbrian mouthorgan player Will Atkinson (1908- 2003) know as one of the Three Musical Shepherds that included Joe Hutton (smallpipes), and Willie Taylor (fiddle). He is acknowledged to be the prime exponent of the the traditional ‘moothie’ (tremolo) style of playing the local music of the North East and the Borders.
