Will a union apprenticeship program accept you without experience.

Was posed with a question on will an apprenticeship program accept me. Also is it better to join a trade school then join an apprenticeship program.

I’m 19 and in 2022 fall I applied for an plumbing apprenticeship/ trade school. I had an interview and I felt very confident. but sadly I didn’t place in the top numbers since they go by “rankings”. I have a re-interview in 2 weeks, and I’m very excited and nervous because I don’t know what I did wrong in the first interview to not get it. Hopefully I get it this time. Hey I’m a 17 year old kid on my last year of high school and I’ve already went through two classes on automotive servicing and I know that mechanics is what I want to do, I want to work on trucks, motorcycles, cars, trains, anything that I can take apart and put back together with my hands. I feel great that I know how early on I know what I want to do but right now it looks like a bunch of puddles that I can step into but I don’t know witch ones I want to step in. How do I make sure I learn how to gain access to both what I want to learn, and how to Broaden my understanding of my trade. How do I file for a union? What union would be right for me since I live in North Carolina, where do I go in order to file for an apprenticeship. Am I able to go to different auto repair and servicing shops and ask them to take me under their wing and teach me? I’m just unsure on how to approach this

I was told they had no projects in my city, so I drove home bummed out. But I was called the next week and told that they have work in my area and I went through the process right away. My program doesn’t start till September but I’m going to be working for them on the job in two weeks or so. I’m working on completing my OSHA 10 course right now and then I should be on my way.
