I feel like I haven’t really got to experience the field yet because my Da doesn’t have patience to teach and just wants money without explaining. I need my own lane. I have been doing HVAC/Sheet metal mechanic for 33 years and all for the same small family owned company.the best way to get a chance for a job is to go in person.it shows you are serious and they get to see what you look like and handle yourself. If you are just getting into this trade don’t go to the large companies but go to a small family owned company.a lot of times they have people like myself who has been there for many years.you want to learn from someone who is going to teach you the right way to do things and putting pride in your work. I’m not saying everyone is going to be a good teacher but usually they are. If you do get a job be there at least 15 minutes early and stay off your phone. great video iv been doing this exact thing. iv been looking for about a week now and nothing yet its discouraging but im staying positive being in california makes things a little harder alot of companies only hire you if you have your EPA. theres a coarse for 300$ that gives you all the books practice tests and unlimited trys on the real test but im about to start school in november i dont want to spend the 300$ if im going to spend money on school and get the EPA there but at the school I wouldnt get my EPA till February so idk what im gonna do, at this time if i find a job within the next week or 2 then great if not i think ill take that coarse so i can get off the unemployment couch

I’ve been in the healthcare field for 4 years as a certified nursing assistant/technician while working at a hospital. I thought of furthering my career, but I’ve come to the realization that it isn’t for me. I came across HVAC because I would like to work in a field that’s hands-on and not a desk job. It also sounds very rewarding, and I'm willing to learn. However, I’m not really confident I'll succeed because I'm not much of a handyman and have very little knowledge of tools…

Hello, I wanted to ask you a popular question that actually brought me to your video. What are the chances that a company would hire a basic helper with no experience and not currently enrolled in schooling for HVAC? I've been working in a warehouse the last 7 years and only have customer service skills. Is there a way I can sell myself solely based off a good work ethic and good customer service skills? Also thank you for the video and general life advice. Liked and subscribed I hope you're doing well and continue to make content!

Hey man just wondering if you had any luck? And also if you took any schooling before calling the companies?
Im hoping to get into a HVAC apprenticeship. My method was calling a technician to perform maintenance and I asked if they have an opportunity available for an apprentice. He said possibly soon by the turn of the year when some technicians retire. Wish me luck. i would really use your method too for the future.
Thank you for making this video

Great advice dude
This the video I needed
great video iv been doing this exact thing. iv been looking for about a week now and nothing yet its discouraging but im staying positive being in california makes things a little harder alot of companies only hire you if you have your EPA. theres a coarse for 300$ that gives you all the books practice tests and unlimited trys on the real test but im about to start school in november i dont want to spend the 300$ if im going to spend money on school and get the EPA there but at the school I wouldnt get my EPA till February so idk what im gonna do, at this time if i find a job within the next week or 2 then great if not i think ill take that coarse so i can get off the unemployment couch

What ended up happening?
hey what night school did you go to? Appreciate the very honest video. Looking to get my foot in the door with HVAC one step at a time. Currently working a full time job so making time for school can be a little difficult
Wait, is this only 1 out of 2 videos?? This was a fantastic video but we need way more content and updates for people on the fence about joining a trade! Hope it's been going well.

Hey I’m a CNA too, and I’m debating whether or not to do LVN or another trade. Did you come to a decision?

You and 50% of apprentices who get the job. There’s much to learn and tools are the basics, find a video of what tools you need,, don’t be afraid to let them know you’re a beginner.the one that hires you will teach you

I would say study to the point where you know you the best, so when they call they know by your confidence in your knowledge you a Jedi
Nice video! How much do you make a year? I know it’s personal but I’m considering entering the field and finding out from someone who is an actual HVAC than just googling is more reliable.
Good job
Thank you bro good advice. Just graduated highschool and looking to get into the industry in Long Beach. Do you think it’s a better idea to try to hop right into a apprenticeship with no experience or go to tradeschool? Also is it worth it to wait and find a union apprenticeship or start with whatever company will take me on?

That’s what im thinking. Have u figured it out ??
I went to job corps for a year i couldn’t go back to finish cause my family is important but i has somewhat hands on experience but mostly I do know what to somewhat to do I just need more training and I wanna go back but do you think that with a year of somewhat experience a hvac company would hire me I also got my 4-10 certification i don’t know if that is anything special if i did go back to school once my family is okay I can get my EPA and Nate certification as well and some other things but i’m on the edge
great advice! you couldn't have said it better! time to put on your big boy pants and start making them calls baby! wooo!!! let's go!
how do i say something to someone when i do not have tools , nor in school or just not yet at the moment but looking to enroll in one , but i do have a reliable car and on time and hard worker
When looking to be an hvac technician would I be able to do the apprenticeship without previous experience or should I get certified first?
Did you have any experience or education in the field before making these calls? I’m in my early 30s and looking to make a career change and hvac is really appealing.
do you ever think of the union
problem with this is alot of them will have a receptionist or secretaries and they wont put you through to the owner/manager
I fuck with this video heavy man
I dont know if i should join hvac tradeschool or thru an apprenticeship
This is a genuine method
Anyone heard of SkillCat? Is that a good avenue for getting NATE certified?
True
Did you end up going to school? Did this guy sponsor you to go to school? I’m just trying to figure out if you have to go to school still to become an apprentice and journeyman eventually
I went to summit 2 ✊🏼
I have experience in hvac just no hvac work experience like talking to customers
Did you go into debt when you went to college to become a hvac?
Did you gain experience of HVAC by going to a trade, college or the union? because idk which ones best.
Hey buddy how you doing.
What are the requirements to be a hvac apprentice? Great video btw

Probably to already be in school for it or already actively training for certification.
Good thing is Im conferrable with people(not a texting type) but I have no experience with hvac so your saying start with tools and calling multiple hvac companies?
I’m choosing between local 105 sheet metal and local 250 pipe fitter. In the pipe fitters I want to know if there is other jobs other than service because I don’t want to work those odd hours

Doesn’t have to be night school. Just be in the process of getting certified however that is. It’s many avenues to get by certified it doesn’t have to be school

Can anyone please explain to me what you need before applying to HVAC apprenticeship? I just started looking into this and I am a little confused. Do I need certificates before applying? I’m happy with any info anyone can give me

I don't work as an HVAC apprentice, but from what I can tell and from research, it just depends on what the company is demanding. Some require experience, High school disploma/GED, a certificate, or no experience what so ever.
Ya but how do you do this if you had a dui in the past, I’m talking like within a years time but you’re all squared away now and driving again
Are you still doing this and how is it going ?
