Wildcard Wednesday : What Could Have Been...Thomas The Tank Engine Photoshop Edits

As some of you may know, on Twitter I’ve been building up a thread of Thomas The Tank Engine Edits so I just thought I’d make a full video of them all to share them on a wider base.

    *_IMPORTANT NOTE : Please read before commenting_* Below I have addressed some commonly raised points in regarding this video Point : “The video starts at “X:XX” Response : Any comments along these lines will be removed. I’m sure some of you think you are being helpful or are annoyed by all the text at the beginning but it’s important information to me the creator of these edits and so I don’t appreciate people telling others to skip it. Point : "What did you use to make these and/or where can I get it?" Response : I made these in Adobe Photoshop (it literally says that in the video title) and if you don't already known Photoshop is a proper professional photo editing suite for a desktop computers/laptops, so if you were hoping to be able to do edits like this on a phone/tablet app then I'm afraid I can't help you. Point : "The watermark is annoying/obscuring the images" Response : Firstly the watermark is set at 5% visibility so the images are still perfectly visible underneath, & secondly the whole point of the watermark was because initially when I made these people began reposting them as their own work...so if you want to blame anyone for the watermark then blame the people who like to take credit for others work Point : “(insert point here) is wrong/incorrect” Response : Firstly please pay careful attention to the captions, often I address that point in them, and secondly these are just fun edits, they are not intended to be 100% accurate to either the RWS, TV series or their real life counterparts Point : Gordon Goes Foreign was meant to be in Series 2 not Series 3 Response : This was a typing mistake I didn't notice until after uploading, I am aware it was meant for Series 2. Point : Can I repost these? Response : Short answer, no Longer answer : since this video has been getting some attention recently, and subsequently I have come across one or two people/places reposting the video without my permission. If you want to post a link to the video *HERE* on *MY* channel then by all means do as long as you credit me, however if you re-upload the video either as it is or re-edit it, or upload any of my edits anywhere else then you are doing so without my permission and I will submit a request for them to be removed, which could lead to copyright strikes on your account or even being banned for whatever platform you post it.

    CaptainJimiPie, you are amazing! these edits you've made are SO WELL DONE! everything was very neatly done, many designs you made just blew me away, and I enjoyed every second of this video. Also I like how you addressed many problems you had right off the bat, and made this video truly yours. Your talent is unfathomably high, and I would LOVE to see more of these edits my friend! I like how you added in the accents of the cgi characters into some edits, and I like how you put your own spin on some of them. Very well done. 10/10, would watch again. :D

As annoying as the watermarks are they are a necessity to avoid others taking credit for my work

    2:21 this one should be thomas in his brown lbsc 108 livery since the model series is different then the CGI version, and it seems fittingly to make thomas realistic to his class in first built livery

  • @CaptainJimiPie

    @CaptainJimiPie

    3 ай бұрын

    No it shouldn’t. The whole point of that edit was to emulate the CGI version in the model era, not how a realistic version would have looked in the model era.

    Lots of really good edits here. Nice one! Just a friendly comment which is not intended as criticism: Murdoch is based on a British Railways 9F, which were all painted black (except for the very last one). I really liked blue Henry, blue Douglas, red Duncan, and black Rusty. 👌🏼

    Thanks and yes I am aware of that but as I said in the video it’s based on official concept art for the character so I’m just following what someone else did Bear in mind these are talking steam locomotives on a fictional island, so applying real world facts to them is a bit irrelevant

  • @Cybusmaster92

    I really like the RWS designs you incorporated here: * Percy - Looks more visually appealing. * Toby - The blue sideplates stand out really well against the chocolate brown wood. * Daisy, BoCo, Bear & Spamcan - To save time, I'll voice the same opinion for all 4. Love 'em. I don't mind not having the grey faces. Makes them more special. I think I prefer BoCo with half green/ half yellow face. * Culdee - How has the Mountain Railway not been done in CGI yet? They did the Small Railway. No excuses! * The narrow gauge engines - Fantastic! It always bugged me in the episode 'Trucks', where the Slate Trucks attack Peter Sam thinking he was Sir Handel. Morons! They're different colours! In the book, it makes sense with them all being red.

    @@CaptainJimiPie Looking at Mallard, with the face being Matt Black, it's a bit hard to make out the details. Maybe if it has a more shiny gloss look, it would show up better. That's not to say I'm slamming your skill, I imagine it was hard enough just doing the face in Matt Black, let alone trying in Gloss. I don't think I've ever seen a J94 in the TV Series. I wonder why. Maybe they didn't want too many 0-6-0 tank engines. They have: Thomas (Obviously) Duck Stepney Rosie Stanley Billy (One Off) Charlie Porter Hong-Mei

    No worries, I did try several different way of trying to make it show up the detailing but it was either a case of having it lighter to show the face but not matching the rest of the smoke box or darker to match but not so much clear detail

    I Really Dont see Why the Flying Scottsman didnt have a Proper Model Series Appearence Cause There was Spare Gordon Models That were used as Scrap Engines. Great Job by the way

  • @CaptainJimiPie

    @CaptainJimiPie

    5 жыл бұрын

    As I said in the video, the Flying Scotsman couldn't be fully made due to budget constraints, and even if they'd used a scrap Gordon, they still would have had to repaint it, build an entire chassis, make a new face, all the motors and mechanisms etc...unfortunately it's just not as simple as "making it" it would still cost money they didn't have.

    Its great to know your a fan of TTTE too especially the classic series as I have no interest in watching the CGI Era it just does not appeal to me in the same way as the classic series did, So I find these edits really cool and It would have been cool to see a lot of these in the model era I think it mostly did not happen due to budget constricts like using James model (Thomas and Gordon) before he was even properly being induced (Thomas and the breakdown crane) and some wagons and coaches like the milk and the tar wagons where the same model just painted different on each side.

  • @CaptainJimiPie

    @CaptainJimiPie

    Thanks, I have seen bits of the CGI series myself, mainly just the specials and it's not THAT bad, even the more recent ones with the "bouncing", I've seen a lot of people get angry about it but ultimately the program has to move with the times. And budget constraints were certainly an issue, which is a real shame but with that in mind, along with many other "model" series it's actually quite insightful to see how you can make something good but on a limit budget.
