Wild is the Wind - David Bowie

Музыка

Wild is the Wind - David Bowie.
Arthouse vid to complement this great tune that is probably Bowies most under rated song. Enjoy!

My stepdad died of lung cancer a few months ago. He and my mom really loved this song. They called it “their song”. We played it at his funeral. I really hope he was still here. It’s really hard to be there for my mom and little brother since i’m only 15. But Bowie’s music really helps me with it. Thank you Bowie.

Listening in Covid 2020. My long distance gf had sent it to me before she contracted COVID. I listened to it every morning before work longing to be there for her and 2000 miles away worried every moment that her next breath would be her last. The desperation in Bowie’s voice and performance was representative of the desperation I felt. Somehow it gave me strength the way music does. This song will always remind me of her and that time. We will definitely play it at our wedding next year.

I've always loved how hazy this track is: you can practically smell the cigarettes and see the lounge lighting when listening to it. it's a really great album closer because it's darkly sensual, and (even though he didn't write it) it's a reminder that he was at a turbulent point during this era. you can hear it all in his voice. the turbulence translated into _very_ striking music

+TorkGirl8 Agreed. Johnny Mathis recorded it in 1957 for the movie of the same name. Nina Simone's first recording of this was in 1959, and later she had an album that shared the title. But Bowie's version is so ethereal. It's absolutely my favorite. I just find this mesmerizing. What an amazing artist.

The passion and intensity in this song is beyond description. Not to mention his range...sensational. The arrangement and musicians are phenomenal - like a hand in a glove. Beautifully done. He heard this song done by Nina Simone and loved it. Decided to record it as the final cut on Station to Station. Many others have done this song but they don't meet his depth of emotion. I am addicted to this song. Just play it over and over in the car. Makes me feel like I'm flying and I've got the speeding ticket to show for it. Going to court to tell the judge I couldn't help it.

This is a love song to the man that once was my best friend. So deep it can include such a sophisticated feeling as friendship. If you think about it....it's easier to fall in love than starting a true friendship, once you've grown up. Thank you David for that unforgivable moment, when I was taking a ride with my best friend. It's one of the many stunning moment you added to my life, sir.

The thing that makes Nina's version so fantastical is her piano interpretation/arrangement. It is sick. This version is also really awesome and so unique. The song itself is so introspective that it allows for many fascinating interpretations. Wonderful composition.

The most deeply romantic, purely soulful love song sung by the most intensely romantic voice. When I first heard this remake 40 plus years ago, It spoke to my romantic heart. Similarly to Jonn Lennons 'Jealous Guy'. I knew that if ever I was so blessed to find that kind of real love, I'd marry. But not until. Years later, it was our wedding song... David Bowie has moved my spirit and grooved me since childhood in the early 70's. He spoke my language and liberated and invigorated me. Albums; 'Pin Ups' 'Station to Station', 'Low', 'Scary Monsters', his Amazing 'Thursday's Child'.... As a young child in the 1960s loving mime (Marcel Marceau) singing and adoring anyone that was a real and dramatic story telling singer like Nina Simone, Anthony Newley and his amazing album 'The Genius of Anthony Newley' . Seeing them both live was a deeply poignant personal life event. It felt like I met my creative soul relatives. M-L E

Since he died I have been quite profoundly amazed by listening to his life’s work as though he has written and performed his music to all the people of the world and earth itself. He carried such love in his heart, in his darkest deepest songs I can’t help but honestly feel how great his love is.
