Jo and Al to the rescue yet again! I never married and never will (I am 72). I always thought a bride should decide which dress she wears. Any time I accompanied a future bride in her search for a gown I would study her reactions and support her. It's the bride's day - period. Be supportive or be v-e-r-y quiet.

Exactly. The company should never state their opinion prior to the bride. Wait, study her reaction, ask her how she feels about it and give helpful comments based on the points she's insecure with. If she's like: "I guess I like it but don't you think my arms look too big in it?" then you don't lie and either this is a downside of the dress or you reassure her that it isn't. I really don't know why this is so hard.

Unfortunately a lot of people impose their style preferences on the bride-to-be. I think it’s wrong to force any bride to bury their personality to conform to someone else’s “vision” of a bride….That being said, it’s not okay to spend someone else’s money - keep in mind the cost of the dress goes a lot higher than the initial price tag - there’s the cost of veil, accessories, alterations, all of which can add thousands of dollars. A lot of brides spend other people’s hard-earned dollar too freely, as though entitled. If the dress is a “gift” from parents, they should just write a cheque before the bride goes shopping, that way there’s no advance feeling of parents being allowed to vote on the dress. Anyone else who is not paying for the dress definitely doesn’t get to voice their opinion…just because you have opinions doesn’t mean anyone needs to hear them.

The veil looks like she just threw some material up on her head. I think with the proper veil the bride would look much more elegant.

She’s a very good looking woman, actually so may look good in most things.

I still can’t imagine having people going with me to an appointment and telling me what they would want my wedding dress to be. I thoroughly enjoyed shopping alone.

To be honest these shows make me feel so much better about not being that close to my mum. I couldn't imagine her opinion being so important to me that it would actually affect my choice. I'd do the same thing as you and go shopping alone and find something that I like, not some compromise because everyone has to like it.

Jo and Al took everything wrong with all the other shops and corrected it in their boutique. It's all about their customers not their bottom line. They're incredible.

“I have a vision for what I want for Her wedding”. 😒 mothers like this disgust me because shouldn’t your main vision for your daughter’s wedding day be her beaming smile from happiness and love not from you living vicariously through her and her wearing exactly what you think she should wear? 🙄🙄🙄

if you're going to do what you want, then don't bring people and expect feedback. Or tell them to lie about their thoughts and feelings.

That pink dress is my new all time favorite from this show. GORGEOUS! WOW! I'm glad the second mom came around to the dress. I actually got a little nervous for that bride. She was gorgeous in her dress too. GREAT episode.

If my Daughter tried on a paper bag and knew that was the ONE, Id be over the moon happy for her! I had my dress and my day… now it is HER turn. These moms who poopoo their girls dress choices are so shitty

My mom hated my dress, she was the only person who did. She refused to pay for it. So I bought it myself. She said it looked like a saloon girl meets toilet paper. Then 10 years later she asked if my little sister could have my dress for her wedding. She said it was so beautiful. I was pissed. I brought up the fact that my sister was a lot bigger then me. We are talking like 150 lbs bigger. Mom said they were gonna cut it and add panels. I said hell no. You can’t have my dress. She was pissed at me. She was upset because my sister could not find anything in her size that was beautiful in her budget. She said I was being selfish. It’s really really sucks when your hates your dress choice, then wasn’t to destroy it for her favorite daughter.

Sister could absolutely find something in her size with a reasonable budget, Etsy’s got plenty. It’s your wedding dress, she doesn’t get to fight you over it and then beg for the dress years later. That’s your victory, nobody gets to take it from you.

I just need to talk about how ever before her fitting, that dress genuinely made her look 4 sizes smaller! It’s gorgeous on her and I’m glad her mom turned around about the dress❤️❤️❤️

That dress had Victorian vibes about it! What a flattering fit for us bigger girls! I wish they would start making more casual dresses with the cut similar!

I'll never forget my (now ex) father in law attending my sister's wedding and commenting on how "elegant" her veil was. I commented that it was my veil as her something borrowed and he responded, "no it just so beautiful and classy, yours wasn't like that".

Nonsense. You can't force someone to be happy, when your daughter as the bride wears a dress, that fits a mourning widow! Everyone is entitled to their own emotions. In the end it is the choice of the bride, but some dresses are truly hideous.

Unfortunately, I've seen too many occurrences where the "honest" person was just using honesty as a fig leaf for their own cruelty. Not necessarily here, but often enough to make me leery about the invocation of honesty.

For all of us that watched this episode, are we saying " Yes to the dresses"? LOL Both Brides are awesome and picked gorgeous dresses. Jo & AL are truely an example of how, kindness, loving and supportive can touch someone's heart.

The second bride is giving elegant Lady Dimitrescu vibes! I love seeing the "vintage" look, I feel like many curvy girls don't explore the option of having that vintage, elegant, fish-tail esque, wrapped look and this makes me feel that yes, ANYONE can do it!

I love these gals! Yes they are national treasures! I love their dialogue as they are very positive and passionate about their purpose to find gorgeous wedding dresses for plus size brides. I love these episodes!!

She killed it in that pink dress, and the fur just topped it off. She looks stunning. Love when brides think outside the box, but I am relieved she didn't pick the black over the pink. It suited her to a tea

This is one of my favorite brides. Just beautiful and glowing in both dresses. LOVED the first dress on her.

I have honestly never seen in any of these programs , a more suitable beautiful classic wedding dress . The bride looks wonderful . She looks as though she’s really serious about her wedding , and is a real bride and not a show off .

The second bride reminds me of Lizzy from the BBC's version of Pride and Prejudice. The one with Colin Firth as Darcy. The bride is so beautiful.

Jo and Al are utterly brilliant at what they do..they both know how it feels to he a large lady and the fact that you are classed as a second class citizen because of it

I’m a firm believer that all four of my daughters will get the dress THEY like. It’s THEIR wedding day. I had mine. I want them to be happy, and I would never want to add more stress to wedding planning than is already there!

I planned to make my own back 42 years ago. Went to several shops with out seeing anything. But I did have a pattern. But I wondered into a shop while visiting my parents. Saw a dress worth trying on. Fell in love with it.

The form and simplicity of that dress looks amazing on her - what's not to love - come on mom! And Heidi - that black gown she totally rocked - anything would look gorgeous on her!

Gosh the tears, the music swelling, the hugging. That one got me good!

I so envy your brides... hated my gown, (mom told dressmaker what it would be, size 18, candlewhite, shoes very white, hated pillbox hat, vail sharted long, mom cut off short ( not even cut), etc. I wore a size 14/15 US, mom said I looked loke a obese cow ( nothing hadn't heard), grandmother was so upset. We knew not to say a thing. Mom was never someone who was crossed. Hated "everything", about wedding but married 51 yrs when widowed, so the day didn't really matter. I threw it all out the next day. Glad there were only 4 pictures. But I so love looking at your brides. You make them see themselves as lovely, & proud of themselves. Thank you both. Also i had a gastric bypass 12 yrs ago. Still maintaining the original loss & have in last yr lost another 30 +- pounds. If you have questions I can tell you how it really is. Not hard, just understand it is a "LIFE STYLE CHANGE" period. I eat anything I want.....portion control... period. This comes with time as you adjust to your new "inside" body. Prayers to you both.
