They are therapists who sell wedding dresses on the side ❤ But for all the money I have spent on therapy over the years, I could have bought a round trip first class ticket across the pond and an expensive dress I don’t need. Cheaper and more effective than some of the “professionals” I have talked to.

I do understand you wanting the Jo and Al experience. However, " forget plus size." Are you kidding me! Literally every other bridal shop provides services catering to " normal sizjudgment! Many don't even have gowns big girls can try on. Let us fat girls have Jo and Al. They, unlike every other shop, provide for a niche in the marketplace that they cater to with love, caring and no judgement!

Its true though. People who have always been average sized, have no clue how overweight people are treated. Growing up, I was tall, thin and popular, people always treated me kindly, but I gained 175lbs after all my pregnancies and for 10 years I was plus sized. People either treat you badly, right to your face, or they ignore you like you aren't there. I had gastric bypass 16 years ago and lost 160lbs and have maintained 130lbs for the last 15 years, I had a tummy tuck and breast lift. Now people treat me the way I use to be treated before I gained the weight. But you can ask any overweight or obese woman how they are treated by others and I guarantee you that they've all got stories to tell about people treating them badly. I was made to feel stupid and uneducated, I have a master's degree and I'm far from stupid but that's how thin people treat heavy people. Not many people talk about weight discrimination, but it's out there, full on. Every single job I applied to when I was thin, I got! But those years I was heavy, I'd have to go on 8-10 interviews just to get a second call back interview. Many people talk about color discrimination but I agree, its real, I also have darker skin and very ethnic looking, but it was the weight discrimination that was always a much worse issue with employers. It's horrible being heavy, you don't get the respect you deserve!!

@@julietteoscaralphanovember2223 Pretty privilege is a thing, too. I have always been moderately overweight, a size 14-16/XL in the US. I have always gotten the job I applied for because I am kind & respectful but also have blue eyes and olive skin, brown hair, good skin. I lost 80lbs few years ago & I got more unwanted attention from men, but getting jobs was just as easy. Pretty privilege exists too. (I'm agreeing with you by the way).

It's a fact of life. Ive been thin and I've been plus sized. The way others treat overweight or obese people is horrendous and heartbreaking. They think you are stupid, make mean comments or ignore you and pretend you're not there. Its almost like the thin person doesn't realize that you are a human being also!! I was plus sized for 10 years of my 61 years on this earth and in those 10 years I have so many wretched and mean stories I could tell you. Employers discriminate, people are rude, its probably the worst discrimination I've every experienced. I also have darker skin and I'm very ethnic looking, but I got discriminated way more for my weight! Overweight or obese people ARE PEOPLE TOO!!

20 stone!? How come I never knew this about Jo? That's amazing!! When I was 6 I started ballet classes. I desperately wanted to dance. I was only there a short time because one day the teacher said I'd never make a good dancer because I was too fat. That comment has haunted me all my life and I never returned to dancing. I never told my mom because I was so ashamed. I look back at photos now and don't even know why she said that. I'm just an average six year old. Maybe not "skinny" but definitely not an overweight child at all. Yet here I am 46 years later, very overweight and still feeling crushed as I write this. Choose your words carefully. They can have a life long impact for good or for harm.

Love this show, Jo and Al are so kind and genuine. The shot at 3:45 is just so lovely. The editing of this show is also great, it feels so authentic, just the emotion of the bride and guests.

I guess I’m a bit confused. Even if Mandy’s favorite dress doesn’t fit, she’ll get a feeling for it and if she likes it, they’ll just order it in her size. She loves it so much that it would be a shame not to let her try it on.
