Wild Boar Hunting in Texas | 40 Hogs Down with the Armasight Zeus Thermal Scope

Спорт

A Texas farmer continues the fight to eradicate wild hogs and save his crops using an AR-15 and thermal night vision scope.
Wild boar, or feral hogs are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. Each year hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of disease and injury to livestock.
Wild boar compete with native wildlife for resources and also prey directly on the eggs and young of ground nesting birds and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards and snakes. www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourf...
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population.
Feral swine are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year. Some of these methods include large round traps with remote trigger capability, hunting with dogs, and helicopter hog hunts.
Recently, with the increased availability and affordability of night vision and thermal optics, farmers, hunters and citizens alike have access to new weapons/tools to aid in the fight against feral hogs.

"Feral Pigs" not "Wild Pigs [sic]", dunces! No "wild pigs" in the Western Hemisphere; all are domestic or feral exotic species. And the javelina is not a pig however much it looks or behaves like one--different genus.

Wild pigs, feral pigs, wild hogs are all the same. People use slang all the time, these are not like pure bred Collies or something. I lived in Texas and visited a protected wildlife area and there are few if any pure Javelinas since Javelinas interbred with other hogs.

Geez I wish you had 10 or 15 shooters for these big groups of Feral Pigs. Ha I wish I had the training for using a Rifle.

That's the Thermal scope I've got, I like the fire & Ice setting myself. Swap it between AR-15, AR-10 and SBE with 3.5" 00B. Works well on All 3, but the Hogs hate it! Dear Anti-firearm nut jobs, this is just 1 reason for 30 + round Mags! Good hunting Guys!

Couldn't you manufacture some self-made silencer to reduce the sound, prevent the hog running? Or it is illegal to do so?

@3:22 just before the shot...there is a BigFoot coming out of the bush just past the hog (look above the hog's butt!) and then - like always - BigFoot is gone.

I thought I had seen the worst of the pig pest problem in the Jager trapping systems. This video clearly shows that the problem is a whole lot worse for farmers. Out of curiosity, would trapping these feral pigs before culling them not make more sense for a more effective cull rate?
