Ойындар

Before Media Vision created the Wild Arms series, they released this gem of a run and gun on the PlayStation 1 that was heavily influenced by Treasure's Gunstar Heroes.

I've never heard of GH. It's strange because this game would have been (and still is) right up my alley. Such a shame that SCEA didn't want any 2D games to be released in North America. We missed out on a lot.

On an aside, the soundtrack in Gunner's Heaven actually speeds up if you use the fast disc read feature on the PS2 or PSP/PSV emulation settings, so make sure to keep it off when playing this game.

The PAL version (Rapid Reload) felt the difficulty was too wasy so they limited continues to 5 or 7 ( I cant recall) while the japanese version has unlimited. Also it's perma locked at 50 hz by which I mean: unlike most PSX games which can be forced into whatever refreshrate you need with a boot disc or action replay, this one will always remain at 50 hz. And a neat bit of trivia: Gunners Heaven was referenced in nearly every Wild Arms game at some point but most people miss the reference since they always call it "gunners heaven" and not "Rapid Reload" which is understandable since they usually the reference comes up as a name of some place.

I know nowadays people always saying this is where wild arms started and yes, technically it did. But tenshi no uta is where everything started. Go take a listen to the ost to it and you'll find a lot of similarities. like, half of it sounds like wild arms Wild arms was basically "what if we took the three games we've made so far and mash them into one". This games guns and characters, angel storys music and treasure hunters gs graphics and most everything else

There should have been a mention in the video that this game was released in PAL territories under the name Rapid Reload. It has English but runs at 50hz. It was a launch title for the PS1 in Europe and has become quite hard to find. I recently bought a copy on eBay sans manual for £30. So there are deals out there if you keep an eye out.

Sounds like I'm gonna have to use Emulator for this. (4:32) Still waiting for a DreamCast and PS2 Episode.

A: I have always hated Sony as a company. Their antagonism against 2D games, Japanese voice acting, hell even niche games in general it felt like never helped. B: I loved Wild Arms, but sadly I never actually beat one. I always would get pretty far in, but would get stuck for some reason. I really need to remedy that. C: I really don't like how everyone always looks down on games that are similar to others around their release, or when they completely ignore one game in a genre just because a more successful one released around the same time. Shadow Hearts for example getting totally overshadowed and ignored because of FF10. I rented SH, loved it, and went on to buy it outright later.

And add D now: Sony is uncomfy with cartoony anime style games. Everything has to be photorealistic and art house (art direction from scratch like Ape Escape, Boku no Natsuyasumi, Astro Bot, etc) from now on according to Japan Studio's senior vice president, Allan Becker, in 2017. Japanese devs tend to make games for same culture (cartoony anime) and they have to go beyond the Japanese market.
