Wig Wag Wingtip Upgrade
I will once again be flying in the Give Hope Wings fundraiser this year! Our June of 2024 flight will see us stop in many communities in Eastern Canada to raise awareness for this worthy cause.
Last year 2023 we raised over $27,000 towards helping our neighbours - we made a positive difference in the lives of many.

    Speaking as the guy whose BEEN to the ER and HAD metal flakes scraped off one of his corneas, let me say, “USE YOUR SAFTEY GLASSES!” The friction from the drill makes the bits hot, so they stick (having slightly “cooked” themselves on to the eye). More gory details available upon request. In another vein, “Wanna talk about power tools and my last hearing test?”

    I've said this before....the mechanic is awesome and very knowledgeable. I must admit....the paramedic in me cringed a little, watching the metal chips fly while drilling and no eye pro. It's ingrained for me to worry. This improvement is awesome and greatly increases safety. The story about the go-around and the incursion on the runway is scary. Awesome video. Caught tue Hooe Air on the end....Ive mentioned this before....Thanks for being part of this awesome event. Now...get Julie a new seat....

    I think what Glen is doing is awesome with Give Hope Wings. Sadly, there are less known channels and pilots that are also doing the Give Hope Wings fundraiser. If it is anything like last year, Glen will have thousands and thousands for the fundraiser and these other not know pilots will have not much. Look up the fundraiser and find a pilot that isn’t well known. Give to them. It is all for the same cause, isn’t it Glen?

    Hey Glen, i‘ve noticed that you are using a very wide aspect ratio in this video. I like that very much for the flying and landing scenes, looks very cinematic. But it seems detrimental in the workshop scenes, because in some parts you can’t really see what Chris is doing because of the narrow aspect ratio. Maybe change the ratio depending on the scene? Just a very small critique from my part. Love your videos, best regards from germany!

    Still working out a visual language that keeps these videos interesting for me to shoot. I agree the wide doesn't work as well in the shop, I'll have to rethink how I shoot those parts.

  • @GlensHangar

    @GlensHangar

    I agree, and I’ve spoken to pilots who fly without a radio… they are adamant that no one is going to take away their ‘freedom’. While others have said that yeah they should, but just haven’t gotten around to it since a handheld is too expensive. I guess everyone has their reasons.

    Opening shot: I really like it - great shot, the audio really works and I like the graphics a lot! Second shot, somehow the graphics don’t work as well to my taste. For the shots with the graphics in the shop, I had the distinct feeling that the text was larger than I like (admittedly I may have odd taste.) I’m watching on an iPad, but I think the “scope” aspect ratio (which I like!) is making me expect smaller text as though I’m watching this in a giant movie theater screen. Also the “talking head” shot of Chris working on the top of the wing is great but at one point I wonder if you were reluctant to mess up the nice framing to pan down so we could see what he was doing? (I know that’s something I’d probably do.)

    @@GlensHangar To be clear, between the light reflecting off the wing and the framing, that's a fantastic doc-style shot of Chris, even if it's not ideal to show what he's doing without a separate over-the-shoulder setup. (Audio was good too!)
