This is great, I was thinking of making someting myself when my footpump packed in, it was CRAP anyway when it was new. Also in answer to why when bike pumps are cheap its because a lot of them have rubbish air delivery. I reckon this has a good volume of air delivery. I have some 28mm/22mm/15mm copper tube doing nothing, it would be great for this and a piece of broom handle would be good for the plunger part..

Use large pipe if off grid an large tractor tires. China hoses rot fast...even windshield wipe hose is better

Bicycle tire pumps are only a couple of dollars. LOL So.... WHY?
