I’m glad this video was able to resonate with you. also Just wanted to let you all know I just started a new minecraft world and have taken it super slow and only play when I get time and it's been great so far, Haven't had this much fun playing minecraft in a long time, if your planning on starting a minecraft world by yourself or with friends don't procrastinate it just do it! you never know how much time you have left.

Stopped mainly around early 2022, since I got in a fight with my ex best friend. Months later got into it again then stopped, played again and stopped. Kinda crazy ain’t it?

for me its cause minecraft now simply overwhelms me with progression and building blocks especially cause i mainly play to build in survival. i like moving on from things if i feel like it but i genuinely just prefer beta 1.7.3 or the 1.6.4 horse update because of the simplicity + because of that simplicity it takes a lot less time to build whilst having to use a lot more creativity etc. dialko's video on why old minecraft is better for a lot of people pretty much sums up my thoughts

What turned my 2 week Minecraft phases into always playing Minecraft (not phases just consistent gameplay) is me starting my own school Minecraft server. Me and the bros get on almost every day and do whatever. And every so often, when it seems like it is about to die out, a new member joins and it goes back to activity. And there is a really large amount of members, so it does not get boring.

this is actually something I never thought about, one of my best memories of minecraft I can remember is downloading a singular mod, it added clay armor. I played it and instead of trying to get iron since clay armor would take longer to get, I got the clay armor. I planted tons of saplings and lived in the trees but the leaves were regenerating somehow so I had to keep on breaking them. I played on that world for hours and never got bored, nowadays im always rushing to do too much.

I don't have such phases. I also don't go for big things immediately. It's normal for me to still not have diamonds and a proper base for the first 8 hours of gameplay. I enjoy slow pased gaming. I do what I want, doesn't even matter if I need it or not. If I like chopping wood, I do it. I play minecraft to relax.

Despite me being a Minecraft veteran, and playing the game since 2012, the most nostalgic time period for me is 2018-early 2022. That was the period where I would spend hours on call with my cousin, building our town and role playing as the residents. When I lost that world, we rebuilt it from scratch. I still remember that day in February of 2022, when she left the game and I left that world expecting to go back on in a week. But I didn’t go back on for months. And when I did, I was alone. We went back on that world together last year on Christmas and had some fun. But it will never have that same charm as it did before. I’m glad that it was so recent as I still have that world and play on it regularly. I may not be able to relive all those care free nights spending 5 or 6 hours on call, not having to worry about becoming an adult, but I can move on. Since I started playing that world again a couple months ago, it has changed a lot, just like me. Sorry for being cheesy of anyone bothers to read this. But I just wanted to get my thoughts out on here

this video means a lot to me, the 2 week minecraft phase is a yearly thing for me, im currently in one rn. I saw a tiktok of someone rebuilding the far lands from the old days to new minecraft at like 2am and it made me contact my old friends as soon as i got out of bed to play our old server, and suprisingly one of my friends already texted me if we should revive that server which is one we played on the last 2 week minecraft phase but now we added more people, a lots going on and its really fun, or at least it was until a few days ago when everyone slowly started playing less and less, which was like 2-3 weeks after we revived it so i guess it really is just a 2 week minecraft phase... it really makes me wanna go back to 2016-2018 when my friends would come over to my house and we would play split screen mini games on my playstation 3, sleepovers with minecraft when we were supposed to be in bed and no responsibilities. simpler times man... My parents sold the ps3 in 2021 as we had to move to another country and i begged them not to, but those days are only memories now which i cant even relive......

I never had this. I only discovered minecraft as an adult in 2019 and I never had these 2 week phases either, because I always understood the joy in minecraft is NOT to grind. Just work on things slowly, one by one. Just also break up the pattern and go into a huge random cave. Challenge yourself etc. If you full play the game in a day or two, then there's nothing really much left to do. For that reason I never went to the end and it works for me.

I play it a different way now. As a kid/teenager I would play the usual way, just exploring with friends, making a base, fighting the enderdragon etc. But now at 21 I really got into it again by building/designing things. My friend and I are building a cherry blossom village and it’s so fun after a long day of college courses, studying and work. We’re planning on building in the same world for years so we can look back at the world we built. I guess if you’re not into designing things then it wont be fun. But I love the aspect of grinding in survival and make extravagant buildings, its really rewarding.

You helped me understand why I’ve been struggling to play Minecraft like I used to, and you put your thoughts and realizations into words in a very concise and thoughtful way. Similarly to your own experience, this game was quite literally my entire childhood. The countless days goofing around at friends houses after school, or late at night when I should have been asleep were the best moments of my childhood, or even of my life for that matter. I’ve grown somewhat spiteful towards the game due to the state it’s been in as of late, but as you put it “sometimes I have to remind myself why I love this game so much” and you helped me see it again. Thank you, really

after coming back to a minecraft world I played for about 2 weeks in late august early september I came back to it last week and I can for sure feel the burn out getting to me but i can't deny the amount of inspiration I got when I re-joined that world. I got so many ideas for cool things and instantly got to building them spending 5, 6 sometimes up to 8 hours a DAY on minecraft. Soon as I get back from school play Minecraft till 9PM which can I say I haven't done in just YEARS so it feels so amazing to be able to play minecraft like I used to. The best advice I can give to someone who doesn't like the burnout is, take a break. 1 week, 1 month, 1 year. But when or even if you come back you will be FLOODED with ideas. I can for sure feel the burn out getting to me right now, not at excited to play it but I'm still enjoying it. Dont look at the burnout as a bad thing, think of it as almost a time investment FOR your world because when you come back you'll get tons of ideas.

I`ve wasted so much precious game time doing that. I`m currently on a Minecraft phase that`s going on for a month now, started as playing on a modded server with a few people I met online. It didn`t last long, but I started a modded solo world with plenty of places to go adventure and making it progressively harder so I don`t get so burnt out with projects, and made a world for my gf and I to play so she can learn why I love Minecraft so much. Trying to keep the urge to play strong.

Mans spoke nothing but facts. I really needed that reminder that burn out isn't specifically tied to work but something that can be applied to everything where it's high stress and no relaxing time in between. I never had a childhood surrounding Minecraft until mid-teenage years which was honestly one of the most interesting years of my life... I got to connect more with these people I know from school and actually talk with them at school too. I definitely agree with all of the points that were mentioned in this video. What’s funny is this has been happening to me on and off and on and off for like 4 years or so. and I just started it TODAY I already just got bored, and now I’m seeing this. Fucking crazy that KZread recommended me this of all things. crazy man btw, amazing video man, this shit his home. experiencing things for the first time, in that moment sometimes you realize you’ll never do, see, hear, whatever happened, ever again. But sometimes u don’t realize that, both equally suck but I just wish I could genuinely go back to certain moments, even just for a second, and not even in games man, just in life, being a kid, doing things with my dad, spending more time with my dog, making a better relationship with my older brother. life is crazy. Unfathomable how fucking fast it’s flown by in the past 4-5 years

Since 2010 minecraft was a huge part of my childhood. The 2 week minecraft phase is universal to me as well. I mainly play the alpha versions these days just because of the simplicity. I just overall love it more than the 1000a of blocks in modern minecraft. Minecraft isn’t suppose to be fast paced. We should enjoy it slowly and chill. ❤

This is the video that I really needed this week, thank you. Change is terrifying. Whether it's in the present, thrown headfirst into a sudden change in plans, anticipation of the future unknowns, or you blink and suddenly you realize nothing's the same. Even if you know it will be good in the end, or necessary, or, hell, even a self-inflicted change. It's hard to not be afraid. This past week and the weeks leading up to it, I've been deeply afraid of change. This is the first week of my 2nd semester of college. My first semester was hard, in that it was so unfamiliar. So different. But this time it's different, not because I know what I'm doing, but because I know somewhat what to expect. And yet I know I won't know what's to come. And I know that I'm still learning. But god, it's still so hard to accept I won't know what the future holds. This time, unlike the past semester, I didn't get any chance to preview what was needed for my new class. I had to deal with it all on that first day, no planning, no prep. I had to deal with the implications and the changes in real time, and then do the work still. It turned out to have daily assignments due the same day, rather than weekly. It was hard to get through the anxiety. But I did get through it, and I've completed my first week without too much of that same anxiety for most of the remaining time. But I know I'm already planning too far ahead, I'm already trying to do everything, all at once. I know I'm making it too fast-paced. But it's hard to tell if I'm just getting my work done and being responsible, or burning myself out yet again. I don't want to risk that. But I don't know how to step away. But last night, that all changed. I spent my evening/night hanging out with people on that self-care discord server in a vc. I realized that all these people, despite also having college, or a job, or both, they didn't let it stop them from taking care of themselves, from living life. I realized that even though college may take up a lot of time that I used for other things before, life isn't going to stop. Burnout, a busy life, unexpected events, sudden grief.. I can still have fun. Change is terrifying. So is the real world. So is responsibility. So is the passage of time. But in the end, we won't be able to change these things. But we can change our perspective on them. We can still dislike it, even fear it, but we can make the most of what we've got. We can appreciate what we have now even while the past looks so enticing while the future looks so empty. Thank you for this video. And if you read all this, I appreciate you giving me a little sliver of your time.

Very good and relatable video! I‘ve had so many phases, but a few weeks ago I finally made my „perfect“ world. I didn’t think about everything or plan big things, just adapted to the environment. Funny how I‘ve always wanted a „perfect“ world to beat the ender dragon in for the first time, but I never get to it bc I didnt like the world and delete it. The new world I‘m playing in feels genuine, and I‘m proud of it. I play 0-2 hours a day on it and take one step at a time.

This video beautifully encapsulates why minecraft, and games in general mean so much to people. Personally ive experinced this type of "game burnout" many times over, and its always good to remind ourselves on why we love the games that we do, because just like regular life, they can get mundane and feel empty. But if you truly love what youre doing, youll find that new thing that will bring back the same childlike joy you had when you were younger. Games like Minecraft are called sandboxes because, YOU create the world. It all comes down to your imagination, and how you use it. This video was incredibly well written. Thankyou for making it jyn.

This game means a lot to me, it helps me recall good and bad memories when I wouldn't remember them otherwise. I barely had time to play video games growing up and when I was 12-13 I was subject to doing working adult jobs I shouldn't be doing at that age, construction. Minecraft and my 360 made my day.

In 2022, the entire summer for me was my ,,2 week Minecraft phase" although I wouldnt call it 2 weeks of course, but that summer man was amazing, my sister, cousins, friends all played on it, we did wars, builds, kingdoms. It was so much fun and everyday we would hop on, play, sometimes go to the lake or go on a bike ride, maybe go to the store get some snacks and come back home and hop on again. Eventually, like all good things, they come to an end and we stopped playing. We had to go back to school again, poeple got bored, there wasnt that much enthusiasm to play and no motivation to build, do wars and all of that other fun stuff. The server hasnt been this active ever since. Its only me and my friend that sometimes play and continue building that kingdom I mentioned, I hope we will finish it one day. And like Dr. Seuss once said ,,Dont cry becuase its over, smile becuase it happened"

"There's nothing wrong with wanting to go back and relive some memories, just make sure you make some new ones while you're at it" Man that hit me like a 1000 pound bag of bricks on my chest. I remember watching minecraft videos in the beginning of 2011, but I started playing for the first time when the full game released. I have since been in love with the game. I grew out of Minecraft at some point in 2014, but came back when the Minecraft boomed again in 2019. Ever since I have played on and off, struggling to keep playing the game past a week or month or so. I still did love the game, but I just didn't have the drive or passion to play the game anymore. This video has really helped me with that, and I have some cool ideas for my solo world. That was my childhood; alone, playing games on either minrcraft or roblox, and honestly a really relaxing time in my life. 12 years later I'm dealing with organizing a compsci org, college work, job, powerlifting, cello etc.. and stress really mounts sometimes. This is when I go back to minecraft content, just to appease the little boy still waiting to continue his little unfinished lake, scuffed bridge, and villager home over a decade ago. Everything you said is true. I begged my mom to buy me Minecraft at 11 years old as soon as it hit the Xbox marketplace in 2012, I would spend months on a world with friends I never met in person. Around 2016 me and my cousins made a world on Xbox one and played on it for a few weeks. Summer 2022 we had a reunion and made a new world but we only played for like 2 weeks max.. our most recent world was dead after a few weeks , nobody wants to play Minecraft with me. I know this sounds childish as a 23 year old grown man but I have to be honest… I see the transitions as the years go on. I see my generation growing up. Anyone who was in middle school when Minecraft hit Xbox marketplace knows what I’m talking about.. Hell, some of you might even remember castle miner Z being the only form of Minecraft we had on Xbox 360. Well, I guess we grew up now. I’m loading up a survival world, I’m gonna play this through in honor of all of our childhoods. There’s a new generation that’s growing up fast, already using the internet and playing video games, they don’t even know what Minecraft is. I feel like a boomer or a “old head” but if there’s anyone reading this that played Minecraft on Xbox when it was new in middle school(2012-2015)… our era ended years ago. ❤ but it won’t be forgotten.

It's ok to look back and enjoy the nostalgia, I do it myself almost every day. But don't let it blind you and miss out on what memories you could make today. I follow this every day to where some moments that happened only 5+ years ago felt just as nostalgic or even more so from an event that happened 10+ years ago. To this day I still continue to make new memories, January just ended but I have some very fun moments that I will for sure remember years from now and look back to with a smile knowing that I was genuine about it.

For a lot of us this game was an escape from the stress of life before we knew it. Minecraft was a safe place for us, our therapy, our home. We used to play minecraft, just playing it- no second moniter to watch a video- no other game or stream on at the same time, we were just kids. We were just kids. Thank you Jyn for this video, It's quite beautiful and captures what we've all felt for years, heck over this pass decade for some of us like me. I hope you have a fantastic day.

Great video! I recently decided with some of my friends to start playing on my Minecraft realm again that I had created 4 years ago during COVID. We are a bit past the 2 week period and we are still active and having fun on it. We decided to do this as a way to learn from previous mistakes and have a better experience overall moving forward. In fact, it was the extreme inactivity of the realm that brought us together to make it active again. Instead of projects that were to large to handle, now we do projects we can manage and include everybody. Instead of living far apart, we make bases close together to bring about more interaction. Without game breaking duplication glitches and cheating, we enjoy the process of gathering materials and progressing through the game normally. 2 years ago I would never have thought that my survival realm that had slowly declined in activity would eventually see a revival years after. And 4 years after my realm's creation we've been way past the "dead" stage so now we know what to do and what not to do. I'm hoping that this acts as a fresh start that allows us to enjoy Minecraft in a new way and just brings fun to us all.
