Why YOU want an Audi A4 3.2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

You don't see many B7 Audi A4s with the bigger 3.2 V6 engine and especially not paired with a 6-speed manual. I figured I better make a video to share with anyone interested how awesome this little car is.
The 3.2 makes about 255hp and has an extremely smooth/flat torque curve. This engine is also found in some A6s and Q5s as well so with the lighter weight of the A4 and slick 6 speed it's quite a riot to drive.
Gas mileage is around 25mpg combined and it has been an excellent car for me. I am the 3rd owner and bought it with 74k miles on it. The car currently sits just below 120k and I've replaced the HPFP. Other than this it has been simple oil changes and filters!
This video is both an animation (not real) and filmed in Mexico. No laws were broken.
If you guys enjoy please let me know in the comments! I am open to answering any questions :)

Heya!@@yvez2925 So far, we've replaced Valve cover gaskets, solonoid gaskets, and rear pads. I just did my oil change as well (218,660) and its been chugging along no problem! Its now hit 218,660 miles. I definitely recommend using total techniks 15 second rule, which by putting the car in the second position with the key, you let oil pressure build in the timing chain tensioners. When you do so, it results in a noticeably smoother start up (so no timing chain slap), and is something good to help with the cars health long term. I also wrapped one of the flex pipes to fix a mild drone from it being worn out, and solved that (stock exhaust btw, does not drone at all, and sounds great). Im really not sure how, but with the solonoid gaskets and valve cover gaskets done, it barely leaks oil, so its just burning it a little at this point. On high mileage commutes like Ive done, its a fantastic vehicle. plenty of power midrange to pass in 6th. Cannot recommend this model enough, super underrated!

1 set of high flow resonators help with the drone. My problem is cant seem to keep the flex pipe from burning holes through them. Have had mine since 29k. Slammed on bilstein coilovers, rs4 track sway bars, full metal endlinks and rs4 alignment setup. Handles amazing. Upgrading exhaust also helped a bit in quarter mile times. If ppl were wondering. Common problem tho to do is the upper timing tensioners. Before 200k km. I've heard aslow as 175k km they've gone and blew a engine. Not mine yet. I still at 165k km.

For sure it would! I decided to order up a Magnaflow 11385 x-pipe muffler to swap out the H-pipe and reduce drone/rasp at the same time. I'll post that when it's installed. You may be rubbing if you are slammed! But yep chain and tensioner have been a problem for some people. I believe the oil quality is very important. With being Direct Injection, fuel will get into the oil over extended change intervals. I run LiquiMoly 5w-40 and change every 5-6k miles. So far so good at 123k miles. It's a great car! However, If you are looking to do a lot of engine mods I would not suggest this car. The aftermarket support is minimal. While they are awesome in stock form it's an important thing to know. After minor mods the car is even better but not the best platform to go crazy with mods on. Some exhaust, suspension, and other minor exterior mods are about as far as you can go here. With that said the 3.2 V6 from Audi is wonderful as long as it was taken care of. At 133k miles all I've done is gaskets like the oil filter housing gasket and I did replace the High Pressure Fuel Pump. I've owned the car for 5 years and put about 50k miles on it. Go drive one! Hey! Great question. It depends on the issues and service history of the 3.2. I will warn you that the 4.2 has timing chain issues and is much more costly of an engine to own. If it has had all of it's service done and chain replaced it could be worth it but fuel economy is also significantly worse. The 3.2 is close in terms of overall speed and the lighter front end results in slightly better turn-in on corners I imagine. -Austin

No timing belt ✊🏾it's the upgraded 2.8 which I've had for 13yrs and dog the hell out of it. Mine is a 97 and I'm just thinking of getting rid of it. Also regular gas ⛽️ non aspirated doesnt need high octane.

These engines have a chain yes. The 3.2 V6 requires premium due to it's compression and timing advance. Many naturally aspirated engines require premium gas! -Austin

Question someone wants to trade me their 05 Audi a4 Quattro 2.0T with 131,xxx auto for my 08 audi a4 Quattro 3.2 manual sline titanium with 216,xxx. I want to mod my car. But can’t really with the v6

  • @Cooperdaleit

I think they would be getting the better deal on that one. The 3.2 is typically more reliable and makes more power stock for stock. Additionally I wouldn't suggest adding much power on the automatics. Sell your car and move to a different platform if you are looking for engine mods. You could do intake and exhaust on the 3.2 and focus on suspension and cosmetics as well. It's a good car.
