This video is very true. I am 81 days in and let me tell you, if you don't WANT TO STOP or are NOT WILLING, then don't bother. Btw drastically cutting back my drinking, has been one of the greatest things for me. My sleep is better, I have more energy. My marriage is better (thats a big one). And I am easily a better athlete - like WAY better. Sober Leon's videos have been helpful, one of the many tools to use. Also find out what alcohol does to your body. Once you start learning about that, it will be easier to stop or decrease. I also went to meetings (not my cup of tea but still gave it a try). I am also reading the blue AA book. I've spoken to a therapist and I journal almost every day about my sobriety. I don't drink randomly or have wine with dinner, trust me, it doesn't make the meal better. I am bout 99% sober (maybe i will drink again some day, i dunno). I am not going back to being regular drinker, THATS FOR SURE. Its just not worth it.

Super Helpful Video, Leon! If you’re trying to stop drinking alcohol using willpower, you’re approaching the problem from the wrong direction. When you use willpower to change your behaviour, you focus on the symptom but ignore the cause, and you end up increasing the frequency and intensity of the urges you feel. Alcohol is not playing fair! Alcohol isn't your friend! It’s attacking you and at the same time pretending to be your friend. It's your worst enemy!👋

I tried to quit drinking to improve myself and my relationship with my girlfriend and family. After 4 months of being sober I had relapsed after a horrible breakup from my 5 year relationship. And now I’m back to my old ways and now the alcohol seems to be my only friend when I know it’s not. I’m in a slump but I believe I can get out of this.. just wondering how long it will take.

Not sure I agree with you about the ego thing. That's what they target in AA : Ego deflation. That's what I always disliked about those meetings. Seems to me that by the time we get to the point of quitting our ego's are crushed. Disappointments and failures constantly beating us down. Besides, it's coming at the problem from a negative point of view. It does work for some but not most from my experience seeing thousands come and go in AA. I had to tell myself I'm OK, I can do this.
