Why you SHOULD move to Saskatchewan in 2022

In this video, I brush over 7 reasons why you should consider moving to Saskatchewan in 2022. When I first moved to Canada, I didn't think I would fall in love with Saskatchewan as much as I have which is a huge credit to Saskatchewan. Moving to Saskatchewan in 2022, is something I feel so grateful for, and I am truly lucky to live in such a wonderful province.

    Saskatchewan imo, is the most beautiful province in Canada. Northern SK is incredible, the far south with the huge rocks and open plains, the best lakes in Canada, sand dunes etc. super friendly people, and better drivers than Alberta. The winters aren’t even bad, dressing warm is so easy.

    I've been considering relocating to Saskatoon from Toronto. I've been to Saskatchewan a few times and the prairies are beautiful. The winters are long and cold but that goes for anywhere in Canada except for the west coast. I find that even though Toronto has so much going on I hardly take advantage because it's so crowded that I rather miss out than deal with the massive crowds. I feel like Saskatoon has less happening but I would likely attend more events. I always found Saskatoon a surprisingly artsy and vibrant city for its size. Canadians are known for being kind/polite but I swear people from Newfoundland and Saskatchewan are the friendliest and kindest of all Canadians. I'm still undecided between St. John's or Saskatoon. I'm part First Nations and I worry about prejudice in SK which is where I hesitate. It's something I don't worry about in Toronto since we're so diverse but have to take into consideration when thinking of moving elsewhere in the country.

    Hey! Thanks so much for watching. It really is beautiful here and I know that you mean about the high population, even though I love Toronto. Saskatoon has a lot going on, especially for a city of its size which is something I really love about the city. In terms of being First Nation, I would say that Saskatchewan has a high population of people who are First Nation which is a true strength of the province, and something that I love about the Saskatchewan. I do think there is a lot more to do though in terms of reconciliation though.

    hello! i am from sask and i would definitely recommend moving here. saskatoon is very good but i would also consider moving to a small town. (EX: 100-600 people.) Im sure this may sound silly to a person from Toronto, but a lot of those communities are very welcoming and have a great atmosphere. if anything moving to a small town CLOSE to a big city like saskatoon, just so you can still have many amenities. if you would want to i would recommend raddison, and clavet. if you are looking for a little bigger it would have to be martensville, rosthern, Warman, or Hague.

  • @selkarogers7662

    @selkarogers7662

    Жыл бұрын

    @@daryl9905 I wouldn't consider Winnipeg for a few reasons. I find the winters ultra brutal and then the bugs and extreme humidity in the warmer months isn't for me either. There's unfortunately a lot of violent crime, gang activity in Winnipeg and I have always sensed it's a bit too rough. I'm also part First Nations and I feel like out of anywhere in the country Winnipeg and Thunder Bay (where I have lived before) have a high level of prejudice towards native people. I would worry about my treatment in hospitals or if I was a victim of a crime not being treated fairly. I know housing is cheaper in Winnipeg but I dont think it would be for me. I haven't been there in close to 15 years and I was 19 when I was there, I wasn't left with a good impression but it could have gotten better since then. I have considered Saskatoon because it felt more friendly and easy going and although there is still crime, it's more so petty crime like car theft. It felt like a toned down gentler place compared to Winnipeg with a more vibrant art and food scene.

I'll have to go back to Saskatoon to visit before I could really make a decision.

    Welcome to Saskatchewan. Great video. Saskatoon only has 300,000 people but is projected to double in the next 25yrs. So it won't be tiny forever, but compared to other major cities, still quaint and small I guess. Also it's the sunniest province in Canada. Most sunny days, even in the cold -40 January. Not to mention the longest life expectancy. Just like anywhere else, there is lots to improve, but I love it . I think the roads are horrible, simply because of the extreme cold weather, off and on for 2 months, is hard on them, especially since the temps go from -40 in winter to +35 in summer. That's some bigtime fluctuation. Hopefully the provincial government will start spending some of that new oil money and potash money on our roads and infrastructure.

    @xmakotosolox thanks for defending, and no problem @barrywilliamsmb. Yes, I was rounding the city of Saskatoon's population, not the entire province (which is around 1.3 million total currently...rounding again). Saskatchewan is doing very well, comparably, of late (thanks to some things I mentioned previously). I didn't understand the vitriol towards my statement and my experience. I think Saskatchewan is always underestimated. Plus...I don't discriminate on my "strain of weed." Legal Cannabis has helped me ween off very high pain medication doses for my disabilities. So whatever works. Doesn't affect my brain function though, I could joke that maybe you should do more, since you misread my message. But I only joke. No hard feelings.

    @@jackincanada163 Thank you for the information. I am a support staff and have worked in school districts out west. I also have experience working in colleges in career services. I am open to school districts, colleges and uni. It seems to be more option in college and uni in Saskatchewan. I am also open city jobs/ gov jobs too. Any advice you can provide would be great. I was thinking saskatoon in terms of living

    Colleges and higher education may be a good idea. There are two main universities in Saskatchewan, the Univeristy of Saskatchewan (in Saskatoon) and the university of Regina (Regina). Some collages do have locations in Saskatoon such as Saskpoly and SIIT. I would take a look at the different websites to see what they have on offer at the moment. Another option is to go to Saskjobs (m.saskjobs.ca) which may be a good place to look. There are also some school divisions in Saskatoon such as saskatooon public schools and Greater Saskatoon Catholic schools. I would look at all of them to see what is out there. Hope that helps! ☺️

    Our province actively hates teachers and education unless its a privately funded religious school. I am a teacher and I was born and raised in sask and i would NEVER teach here.

    Hi Jack, thanks for the informative videos about living and working in Saskatoon. I have recently applied for provincial nomination and nowadays conducting research about the province. I am a PhD in health policy and practice from UK and have expertise in teaching at a University level. I am still bit skeptical about finding a job related to my field there. Please also make a video about living expenses in Saskatoon and the initial expenses for a family who is immigrating to Sask for the first time, like rentals, car, buying things first time etc. Thanks again

    Thanks for watching! My partner actually sponsored my application as she is from Canada so I came as a permanent resident. We did this through being common law. We did also look at the IEC which is a good way for a 2 year visa. I think the requirements may have changed from when I looked at it but it is always worth looking at!

    I wonder why people would being in a such areas like toronto or Vancouver ! After all it depends on people life style but i would be in house for 1200$ rent instead of a simple room in Vancouver for 1500$ and that's why i really like saskatchewan, less stress and challenges, which i mean you could have 80$ to start a careers than the others provinces and life is easy in saskatchewan and good place to raise your children.

    Hey, thanks for watching! I’m about an hour and 20 minutes to Saskatoon, and I typically go there at least twice a month. I’m quite a bit further from Regina although I have some friends there so I still try to head up that way every so often. Both places are great cities!
